Why I Want To Live In A Tiny House
Country Living

Every Monday night I get home from work and religiously throw myself on the couch with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and watch shows on HGTV like, “Tiny House, Big Living”, “Tiny House Nation” “Tiny House Builders.”, “Tiny House Hunters.” etc. And of course, once you start watching those kinds of shows you really can’t stop. I first started watching these shows for fun, mostly because the houses looked so cute and they reminded me of the playhouses that I used to play in as a kid. Now, the more I look into tiny homes and the more I watch these shows, the more I want to have one of my own. Here are twelve reasons why I think living in a Tiny House would be beneficial to me,

Traveling the Country
I’ve always loved to travel and what better way to do it than from the comfort of my own home?! It eliminates the need for a hotel room which could run up a high cost in itself. Of course, to move a tiny home you would need a large vehicle (like a truck or SUV but that’s a small piece).

Easy to Maintain
There is a lot less space within a tiny house so that means it’s a lot easier to clean and maintain a neat living space. With a downstairs living space with, a kitchen, bathroom, dining area and probably a loft for sleeping there doesn’t sound like a lot of space which is good. Everything in a tiny house is small, but it pushes you to clean and make sure that things stay nice.

No Mortgage!
You don’t have to worry about paying a mortgage and it makes your carbon footprint smaller! What else could I do to convince you?

Forces Baggage Removal
A lot of people have things that they don’t even know they still have from years ago. Having a tiny house forces you to get rid of the things that you don’t need because it’s hard to bring everything you’ve ever bought into a very small space. Baggage removal allows you to maintain a better environment for yourself.

Less Decorating
Although the holidays are fun, they’re also very stressful. Especially when it comes to decorating the house. From little knick knacks, to festive china, Christmas lights, etc. With less space, there is a lot less stress to decorate and a lot less want/need to over-decorate.

Less Temptation to buy things that really aren’t needed.
When downsizing to something as small as 500 square feet, it means you have to get rid of a lot of things to get to the point of being able to fit in a tiny home. It sort of trains you to be less materialistic. You really get a taste of the things that you do and don’t need.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
