Why I Want To Be A High School Teacher When I Graduate

I may be crazy, but it will be worth it.

Why I Want To Be A High School Teacher When I Graduate

“High school? Really? Why?”

I have heard it before and I am sure I will hear it again. Why in the world would I want to teach high school? Well, I will tell you why my desire to teach still burns in my heart, despite what people say.

Everyone wants to change the world, including myself. At the end of our lives, we hope to have positively affected this place in some way, shape, or form. To me, you do not have to be a superhero to change the world. You don’t have to end world hunger, create world peace, and save every child in need, even though that would be nice.

One person. I believe if you affect one person, you should be proud. If I can change one person's life, then I will be happy.

I believe one of the best ways to influence people is through teaching. I believe this because I was that student, I was the one who walked in a classroom and felt safe because of my teacher. My senior year English teacher never once passed judgment on a student. He encouraged everyone to take chances and be themselves. Students gravitated toward him, and I never once heard a bad thing said about him. Every day he gave us a clean slate. I went to him for advice and he was always there to give me his unbiased opinion, even when he didn’t agree with me. He truly was the last thing that really pushed me to want to pursue secondary education.

I want to be that teacher for kids that just need people to believe in them. I think high school is a make it or break it point for a lot of kids and if I can encourage them to take a chance, be themselves, and try their best to be successful, it would mean the world to me. I would love to be that helping hand, listening ear, and advisor for some of the kids who don’t have that, because then I will have done a good job here on earth. I think the power of education is incredible and I believe that the teacher has the ability to change the students outlook on the subject, they can make all the difference in the world. You can always tell when a teacher has a true passion for their job, and those are the

type of teachers we need more of. We need more teachers that actually want to teach and make their students better people. I have had my fair share of teachers who hate their jobs, and it really can ruin the class. I wish to be the teacher that loves what she does and truly cares about her students. If I have the power to change one child’s life, then I will be happy, and I think I can find that in the classroom.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
