Mornings are always the same. You wake up super early and make your cup of coffee (or just go through the Dunkin' drive thru, because let's be real, who has time to make their own coffee). You shower and then put on the same clothes you wear everyday and then head to work. Your long morning commute coming to a stop at the intersection of I-65 and I-40 north heading into Nashville. As you sit there for an hour waiting for traffic to move on your dreary work morning, you hear some familiar voices coming through your car speakers. Suddenly, your morning is filled with laughter and good music. 107.5 The River can brighten anyone's day. If you have never heard the Woody and Jim show or you just simply do not agree, here are some reasons why I think you should wake up with them every week day morning!
1. Woody and Jim are like family.
I have been listening to the Woody and Jim show since forever. I remember my mom driving my little brother and I to elementary school and we would listen to them the whole way. They still have some lame jokes, but come on what family members don't?
2. Savannah
There have been many interns throughout the years at the river, but Woody and Jim have a new partner to stay! Savannah is a full time employee at The River and she is nothing short of hilarious. She definitely helps keep the boys in check.
3. The Sleaze
Speaking of Savannah, she dishes the best sleaze. She is up to date on everything celebrities. We all know that when "Talvin" (T-Swift and Calvin Harris) broke up we were devastated, but not as devastated as Savvy! I love how emotionally attached she is to her fave celebs. It makes us all feel closer.
4. Music
Now the music on the river is today's best pop songs. They are really good about staying up to date with new music releases and the hottest new artists. You can even catch my faves, twenty one pilots ;). Although they replay most of these songs over and over (the lost boy song, yeah it has to go), it makes jamming out and singing to them way more fun!
5. Zac
So back to the interns. All of us had such a special place in our hearts for intern Adam. He was hilarious and easily embarrassed by Woody and Jim (throwback to What do you Wednesday). But, recently our beloved intern lost all of our respect when he dished out some hurtful words towards the new intern Zac Woodard. We all love Zac and his wonderful sense of humor. Also, catch his new advice piece, it will not leave you disappointed. We love you more than Adam, Zac!!! You da best and you should totally bring WDYDW back and make it 100000X better.
6. Contests
The River has so many contests! You could literally win tickets to almost any show in Nashville. They have contests where you have to call in and win (which are impossible, I've tried countless times), contests where you have to find a member of the show somewhere in the Middle, TN area to win, and some where you just simply apply online. The River hooks you up in the concert department.
7. Christmas Wish
Every year around the holidays, Woody and Jim like to give back to their listeners. You can either nominate yourself, if you are struggling, or you can nominate someone you may know. You explain how the person is struggling and Woody and Jim will help you grant the wish. Some people write these really long heartfelt letters and when Woody and Jim read them, it is just an automatic cry fest in the car. These guys are so good to the community.
8. Dogs
They are all about the Nashville Humane Society. They have these guys on the show all the time. They post adorable videos of the dogs in needs of homes on Instagram. I mean who doesn't love a guy that loves dogs?
9. iHeart Radio Station
The River is an iHeart Radio station, which means you can listen to them ANYWHERE!! So for me, when I need my River fix when I am away at college, I can listen to them! Then I never miss out on the laughs and contests. This is seriously the best thing ever.
10. They make mornings better.
No matter how long you are sitting in traffic or had bad your Monday is, I can guarantee that this radio show will make you feel so much better! They are so hilarious, compassionate, and just good vibes for your work day commute.
So, give 107.5 The River a chance in the morning. They are on from 5 a.m. - 10 a.m. just for us! Enjoy and thank me later!
