Valentine's Day is coming up (if you haven't been aware of all the lovey-dovey stuff in stores) and not all of us have been struck by Cupid's arrows of love. Whether you're in a relationship or not, Valentine's Day should be a day of appreciation for the loved ones in your life. It doesn't even have to be physical affection, it could just be a simple, "Thank you!" or "I appreciate you!" or "I love you!" (if you have that kind of friendship). If you have some spare cash, time, or creativity to spare, you could give a small gift or another token of your appreciation.
Let me clarify what I mean by "gift". If you did Valentine's Day festivities in elementary school, think of these kind of gifts: small pre-made Valentines with temporary tattoos, or stickers, or candy with two simple lines that have "to" and "from". These "gifts" don't have to be extravagant gestures to profess your love to your counterparts, just simple things to show your friends that you've been thinking of them. You can even spend a casual day hanging out with your best friends.
So no, you don't have to be in a relationship to have a decent Valentine's Day. Show the special people in your life some love this Valentine's Day by letting them know how much you appreciate them. Being in a relationship during Valentine's Day isn't all bad either because you can spend it with your significant other doing whatever you'd like. Just remember that communication is key (so you're not disappointed with what your S.O. has planned). No matter what your relationship status, the bonus of the Valentine's Day season is you can save a ton of money by stocking up on the marked down candy the next day.
