Why Valentine's Day Is The Best With Your Friends
Brandi Wise

Having a significant other to celebrate Valentine's Day with is a day many people look forward to: Sweet gifts, a nice dinner, a movie, and valuable bonding time. For others, spending the day with your friends is even better. If you can't possibly think of why having friends as your Valentine's dates is exciting, let me fill you in.

1. For starters, Leslie Knope told us to spend "Galentine's" with our besties

Even though Leslie states that Galentine's Day is February 13, it is definitely okay to transfer the day to the 14th. Eat all of the best breakfast foods your heart desires.

2. You don't have to worry about impressing your friends with heart-shaped chocolates

Sure, you could go to a fun restaurant, but why deal with all the crowds? Order in, stay in your comfy clothes, and watch How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

3. Your friends will talk you out of thinking about that crazy ex

Yeah, that ex might make the day a *little* nicer since you would technically be a couple, but there's a reason you're not together anymore. There's also a reason why your group of friends is still around. Spend the day loving them, not that jerk!

4. They'll eat all the junk food with you

Get all the heart shaped foods and candies you can find. Not a single one of you will judge the other for binge eating sweets.

5. They'll also drink all the wine with you

There's no such thing as too much wine... okay, maybe there is, but drink up, friends! Get the biggest glasses you can find and sip on those $5.99 bottles that you always get.

6. You have the best (and craziest) conversations on Valentine's Day

"Am I going to be a single cat lady?" "Do you think that guy from 10th grade still thinks about me?" "What would I look like if I showed up to his house right now?" "What point of stalking becomes creepy?"

7. A night on the town? They're down, no matter the time

Drink all the best drinks and party with all the other groups of friends who are out to celebrate how great your friendships are. Valentine's Day is meant to be a day full of love. Show your friends you love them!

8. And at the end of the night, they'll still love you, and do it all over again the next day if you want

"Wine night and downtown again tomorrow night?" "Duh!" Make sure you all have your purses and phones, though. If you ended the night with all of that and didn't text an ex, congratulations!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
