Valentine's Day: you either love it or you hate it. You could be in a wonderful relationship, either in the early lovey-dovey phase or in the committed phase after your first few fights. Then there's the rest of us: single and ready to mingle.

Valentine's Day doesn't have to be an awful pity-party if you don't have a special someone to celebrate with. If you're flying solo this year, here are 14 ways that you can have a fabulous time!

1. Hold Your Own Galentine's Day

Whether you go out to a nice dinner or stay in with some pizza and Netflix, hanging with your single squad is guaranteed to be a blast!

2. Bake All The Goods

Sugar, spice and everything nice makes for a perfect Valentine's Day! Besides, it's the perfect time to try out those Pinterest recipes that you've had pinned forever.

3. Remember Why You're Not With Your Ex(es)

Don't you dare pick up that phone and send him a text. Get a piece of paper out and write a list of all of the negative things that left your life when your ex did. Read through them again.

If you're still catching feelings, blast Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at least ten times in a row, complete with the most ridiculous singing and dancing you can muster.

4. Go Roller Skating

There's nothing quite like roller skating to make you feel groovy. It doesn't matter if you're a pro or if you're just trying to stay on your feet: we're all there to have fun!

5. See A Movie

Whether you grab some girlfriends or go by yourself, this is the perfect excuse to veg out with popcorn and chocolate. Did I mention bonus points for throwing popcorn at the gross, lovey-dovey couples making out in the fourth row?

6. Visit Senior Citizens

Senior citizens don't often get the love they deserve, but we can help fix that! You'll meet some of the sweetest and sassiest people in the world, all with stories that will have you laughing and crying all within the same hour. Trust me, this will be a highlight of your day.

7. Show Some Love At An Animal Shelter

Kisses are okay, but they pale in comparison to a puppy licking your face. Not only would employees and faithful volunteers love your help, but the animals would also love to spend time with you!

8. Pack A Picnic Basket!

Whip up some scrumptious food while you watch the Food Network, take the obligatory picture for Instagram and pack your picnic basket! Always remember: boys may come and go, but food is for life.

9. Make A List Of All The Reasons You Love Your Friends

Your friends are there for you through thick and thin, but when life gets super busy, we don't always remember to tell our friends how much they mean to us. Valentine's Day is the perfect time to start! On both happy and challenging days, they can look at the list and remember how loved they are.

10. Have A DIY Spa Day

Seriously, what did we do before Pinterest? This is always a great time to hang with the girls, but it's also good to make time for yourself. Either way, you'll feel refreshed afterwards!

11. Make Your Own Scavenger Hunt

Why search for love when you can search for "treasures"? You may not find gold, but you'll have a ton of fun in the process! Just be aware of rules that some places may have for scavenger hunts.

12. Go Bowling

This classic pastime never gets old. Go ahead and prepare your happy dance for strikes and spares now, because you'll be using it a lot!

13. Organize A Secret Cupid Gift Exchange

Much like the popular Christmas game "Secret Santa," gather some friends and do a secret gift exchange. You never know what will happen! Just make sure that everyone's on the same page about the price range and any food allergies.

14. Enjoy Life To The Fullest!

Valentine's Day may seem like a big deal, but let's be honest: it's just one day out of 365. Each day presents new opportunities for growth, for learning, and for fun. Don't waste your Valentine's Day on anything that isn't filled with joy - life is too short for that!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
