Lets play a game.
No, not like that Saw doll, just a game of knowledge;
Did you know that we have developed a way to use solar modulation to detect planetary systems.
Did you know that we have created printers that allow users to print food.
Did you know that we have discovered elements that only exist for fractions of a second.
Aw, but see, now I'm losing your attention; do you have ADD?
No?
Well the condition seems to be on the rise, unlike the direction of all of our eyes.
You see, the more we stare into our screens, the less time spent with a person means,
and if its just my generation, why isn't it only teens?
Did you know an adult's attention span is now a second less than a goldfish?
Maybe that's because a goldfish doesn't spend ten hours a day looking at a phone.
And what I don't get; what really gets me, is that the things you are looking at aren't just on T.V.,
They're real!
But what do you care.
Why not experience the view from the comfort of your home, what could a recording possibly not share.
Do you know what the mist off a waterfall feels like?
Or an ocean breeze in your hair?
Have you stared into a clear night sky?
Or felt mud in the absence of footwear?
And yet moments like these are growing rare, 'cause we ain't got a moment to spare.
I'm here to tell you though, that if you take your eyes off the screen, those now spare moments will add up like spare change and you can cash them in for the best prize of all, being alive.
See, like money, once a moment is spent, it's gone, and there are no refunds when it comes to a human life,
There is no repeat button, no rewind, no progress bar to slide back.
So why not live a little.
Why not trade some moments plugged in for moments tuned out.
Why not trade some moments connected for moments alone.
Why not trade some moments spent on anti-social networks for moments being social.
Why not try being a bad texter.
