I constantly am getting the question, not only from family members and friends back at home but around campus as well… Why did I choose Toledo? There hasn't been a day since I made my decision to go here that I haven't been asked this question. Here's why I chose The University of Toledo:
Why wouldn't I want to go to a school that is one of the 14 state universities in Ohio? This university was established in 1872, then in 2006 Toledo merged with the Medical University of Ohio to become the third-largest public university operating budget in the state. With 23,000 students, Toledo is big enough to see different people every day, but small enough to have a personal connection with not only the university but also all your professors!
Why wouldn't I want to go to a school that has been to 15 football bowl games since 1969? Rocket football is one of the reasons I chose Toledo. Rocket football not only has some cool history, but it also has even cool fans. The Glass Bowl can hold 26,248 people, but in 2001 was our record attendance with 36,852. This shows how many people come out to see the rockets kick butt! When The Glass Bowl was built, it could only hold 8,000! Our head football coach, Mr. Matt Campbell led the rockets to 10 wins out of 12 last season.
Why wouldn't I want to go to a school with one of the best nursing program that I was offered? Toledo was the first school baccalaureate nursing program in Northwest Ohio. It began in 1970. Even though we're supposed to hate Bowling Green University, BGSU and Toledo actually have a “combined” nursing program.
Finally, why wouldn't I want to go to a school that I absolutely fell in love with? Not only is the campus beautiful, but so are the people. I’ve never met more kind, bubbly and outgoing people in my life. I have no regrets or any second thoughts about picking Toledo; I’ve found my home and I already fell in love with it. From University Hall and The Glass Bowl to the rocket outside the stadium, I've never been so happy with my choice and I know I picked the right school.
