February has been an unprecedented month for TV fans. "Fuller House" is set to premiere, and Netflix announced they are making a revival to the power show "Gilmore Girls". And I guess we can throw in that "Friends" reunion that was a total bust for sympathy.
But here's the thing, these shows ended years ago. At first, I jumped on the bag wagon, and was like "YASSSSSSS, I can't wait." But after a few days I was like wait, what NO!! I don't want these classic shows to have new episodes.
Call me selfish, and yes I'll obvi still watch them. But I don't want people writing and acting out how the show continues after all these years. In my head, I already have it all planned out. I don't need some writer that never worked on the show writing something that interferes with my happy ending I've been dreaming about so I could sleep at night. A movie I can deal with, its only 2 hours top of a cheesy sing-along, but a TV show, NO. That is too much for my little heart to handle. I may need therapy to get through watching "Fuller House" and "Gilmore Girls" on Netflix.
When talking to my fellow TV junkies, I've had some interesting feedback. "Fuller House" people are much more game for (myself included). I think it also deals with the fact that it was a sitcom, and not as much juicy drama as "Gilmore Girls". Not to mention how young the kids were, and how John Stamos aged like a fine wine that makes fans excited to see how this is going to play out.
But "Gilmore Girls", myself included, some fans are not as excited, more scared. I know my mother and I are very nervous about the Lorelai and Luke storyline. Everyone loved how the show ended with the hope that that final kiss meant they are back together, but with the sudden end of the show no one knows for sure. In one aspect, this makes it understandable for the revival. But in another, it has been 9 years since the show ended. In those 9 years, people already figured out the fate of the Gilmore girls. Lorelai and Luke obvi are back together as the power couple they are destined to be, and Rory is settled down with whatever man was your favorite boyfriend. (I am rooting for Logan, but hey, Jess and Dean are okay too). So if we all already figured out the fate of "Gilmore Girls", why do we have to watch someone else's interpretation of it?
We will all just have to watch what happens, and hope for the best.
