Another beginning of fall has come and gone and it's slowly winding down to the first break of the semester. Thanksgiving break. To most people, this break is a time to relax and spend time with family and that's what it should be. If this time is about relaxing, then why is the week before so stressful?
Most of my friends and especially me have exams on top of exams. We have so many projects, quizzes and homework that we don't know which to start with. Why do professors like to wait until the end of the semester when we are going home for the holidays to pile on the work? If you're like me, you don't want to be stuck inside doing homework. You'd rather be outside enjoying the few nice days we have left, hanging out with friends or even just trying to rest before finals start. The week before Thanksgiving break should be a time to finish lectures and prepare for finals, not to stress over exams and projects due over break.
Another reason why the week before break is so stressful is because the cold. Not the cold weather outside but the common cold that affects almost all college students at some point in the fall semester. This year the cold hit me the week before break and it's making studying, taking quizzes and trying to finish all the projects that much harder. All I want to do is lay in bed and sleep. Trying to fight off a cold before you go home is much harder to do when you don't have time to sleep or rest.
I'm trying to keep it together for this last week before break but it's proving to be a hard task. All I want is to make it to the turkey dinner waiting for me on Thanksgiving.
