Why The Meninist Movement Needs To End

The big, bad, ugly and infamous trend: MENINISIM. For those who are unsure what exactly meninism is, let me enlighten you. Meninism is mocking feminism. Meninists believe that feminism is a threat to their masculinity and way of life, so they decided to combat it with "meninism." People who follow meninism lack a clear understanding of what feminism is. Feminism is the thought that men and women both should have equal rights.

The meninist movement scorns feminism by demanding that they want the same rights as women in terms of being taken on dates, bought gifts and treated with respect. I agree with the idea of a split check and spoiling a boy with gifts when the occasion calls for it (especially because of how fragile their egos can be); however, the culture we are in has made it so women expect certain things. This comes from years of society reinforcing that we are the lesser gender, and therefore, need to be taken care of. Women could not work or be in control of their own money for most of this county's history. Women were unable to buy anything and would have to accept gifts from men without anything to give to them in return. Men have been objectifying women for ages, which has conditioned women to feel that it is only fair that we return the favor.

But listen guys, we want to be able to have a job that allows us the opportunity to be able to split a check with you. We want to be able to open our own doors (literally and figuratively). So really, you meninists are shooting yourself in the foot here. If you stop this meninist nonsense and help us obtain equal rights, we just might want to take you on dates with our brand new equal paychecks.

Meninism, in its most hideous form, is men truly believing that women don’t deserve equal rights. So ladies and gentlemen, we have to put an end to this and here is why.

Meninists fighting against feminism, and feminists fighting back is not doing anyone any good. Not allowing women equal rights limits them from being able to help better human kind. Women invented the dishwasher, car heater, fire escape, medical syringe, life raft, computer algorithm, Kevlar, central heating and beer among many other things. So, try to imagine your life without those items. (P.S a woman also created you and she did not go through hours of labor just so you could deny her rights, #meninist).

Bottom line: is ladies get stuff done. Imagine how many more inventions, cures for diseases and other brilliant ideas we would have if women were equally afforded jobs and equally educated worldwide.

Believe it or not, feminism is not some crazy radical idea that you have to defend yourself against by parodying it. I know it comes as a shock, guys, but denying women equal rights actually doesn’t enhance your masculinity, sorry.

Shockingly there are women buying into this as well. These women have either been scared off by hardcore feminists or have been brainwashed into thinking that they do not deserve equal rights. Women who embrace meninism sometimes do it for the attention and praise it will bring from men.

These women have it all wrong. Meninism is getting in the way of women finding their strength and standing up for themselves. Joining this joke is easier than fighting for equality and some women are just inclined to take the easy way out. But ladies, don’t you want to earn the same amount as men while doing the exact same job as them? Or would you rather wear a t-shirt that says meninist on it to impress them? Tough choice.

Men need to realize how important gender equality is rather than making a joke of it. Think of all the other groups of people who had to fight for equality and won. If you believe in equality at all then you believe in feminism.

Now meninists, forget America for a moment and think of the rest of the world. Think of the girls who are forced to marry as children, the women who are burned and beaten for not doing as they are told, women who are forced into sex slavery and women who are not allowed to drive or attend school or work. If you truly believe that that is morally right then you may continue to be ignorant and #meninist all you want. However, if you actually use your brain for a minute and realize just how insane these restrictions are in this day and age, then you will stop being a meninist.

Meninism needs to end so we can put an end to the horrific treatment of women that still goes on today worldwide. Meninism is just another roadblock for women on the road to true equality. If you stay in our way, we will find a way to get past you. However, we would be a stronger, more united front if the meninists decided to be real men and fight for a real cause alongside us.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
