Often, people get hung up on the idea of being a dog person or a cat person. The idea of being one or the other has been proven to start conflict. Families torn apart, friends being betrayed, and (probably) the cause of wars being started. But I am here to propose a new idea. The idea of being both.

Stay with me now. I know what some people are thinking, how can someone like both when they are complete opposites? There are positives to each animal.

Cats are basically the definition of being independent and not needing no (hu)man. They need food, water, a place to sleep, and a litter box, and they will be physically content.

Dogs are just happy all the time. If there was a human that would be transformed into a representation of all the dogs in the world, it would be Ellen.

There are great things about both dogs and cats. So why is it so frowned upon for someone to like both? Instead of judging someone for what they like, or forcing someone to like one or the other, let's respect people decisions to like either one or even both.
After we get in a habit of supporting a dog and cat person, our society will hopefully get in the habit of being more open-minded and supportive of all human preferences.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
