10 Reasons Why Summer is the actual worst

It's hard to have fun in the sun sometimes.

Hating summer may be an unpopular opinion, but there's a lot to complain about when it comes to those sunny summer days. Sorry summer, but you're not everybody's favorite season!

It's way too hot

When the weather gets to be above 70 degrees, it can be pretty delightful, but those 90 degree days will hit you like a ton of bricks. When people get too hot, they get sweaty and emotional, and that's no way to go through life. It's hard to relax when you feel like Satan is giving you a warm hug from hell.

There's too much pressure to have the perfect "beach bod"

Bodies come in all shapes and sizes. Not everybody is gonna look like a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, but everybody feels the pressure to do so. It's a load of BS. There is no "perfect" body for the beach, that is just something society and social media created. You'll look ~flawless~ on the beach no matter what size you are!

Two words: Sweat. Stains.

It's hard to stay calm, cool, and collected when your body is showing that you're actually the complete opposite of it. The color gray can't exist in your wardrobe during these warm months, because nobody wants to see your nasty sweat stains. Sadly, summer means sticking to every surface you sit down on, which is quite unpleasant. Don't forget to put on your deodorant!

You get judged for staying inside

media.giphy.com

With the weather being nice, people tend to spend all day outside. If you choose to stay inside and watch Netflix or play video games all day it makes you seem like a shut-in or an outcast, even though doing those activities in the winter is seen as normal. Sometimes you just want to lay in bed all day without getting judged!

Stereotypical Instagram posts

media.giphy.com

Every girl seems to become an Instagram model during the summer, and it's pretty annoying. We all know this type of girl, they all wear the same summer attire, and they all strive for that ~perfect~ laidback beach look. Nobody cares about your bikini pics on the beach, Rebecca! It's seriously so over-done.

Summer attire

Not everybody looks good in shorts and a tank top or a summer dress, nor is everybody comfortable with wearing those. Summer clothes are too strappy, too see-through, too bright, and lead to too much chafing. Not wearing summery clothes will lead to people judging you though. It's a lose-lose situation! You dread the summer months if you're somebody that wears all black year-round.

You can't go outside without getting bug bites

It's especially bad at night. These little pests can ruin your day, and ruin your skin too with their nasty bites! Going outside in the summer can turn you into an itchy mess.

It's hard to escape the heat

No matter where you go, it follows you. It's like the plot of a horror movie. Even the best air conditioning can have a tough time combating the warmth. Staying cool can be a challenge sometimes.

Wayyy too many weddings

Weddings take time, money, and a lot of effort, even if you're just a guest! You look like a jerk if you RSVP "no," but saying yes is a big commitment that not everybody wants to take on. Nobody wants to sit through a long and tiring ceremony, especially when its outside on a hot summer day, and being forced to listen to all of the best man speeches can be torture. Going to multiple weddings during the summer just turns into a big huge hassle.

Sunscreen is public enemy no. 1

If you use sunscreen you end up looking pasty, and feeling slippery, greasy, and sticky - plus, it can be pretty expensive. It gets on everything, it can end up ruining your wardrobe by the end of the summer. If you don't put it on evenly, you'll get weird sunburn lines, and you have to continue reapplying it evenly throughout the day, it's a hassle! But if you don't use sunscreen, you'll end up looking like a cooked lobster, which is no fun. #summerbummer

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
