Whenever the fridge was opened, I would scream at whoever opened the fridge to close it because I was worried that they would accidentally forget to close it.

Spongebob Squarepants was an iconic cartoon for me and so many students currently in college during our childhood. Some episodes of the beloved animated series are classics that we have never forgotten about due to the humor and unforgettable antics of the yellow sponge.

While a few scenes from the series still makes its way into our lives with its presence in memes often seen on Twitter and Instagram.

But what few people have known about me is that one episode gave me a fear of something that many are not afraid of. I am referring to the classic episode "Suds," and how it got me scared of refrigerators. In this classic episode, Spongebob went down to grab himself a snack in the middle of the night, only to fall asleep and then wake up to his house completely frozen with ice covering every inch of the pineapple.

To add on top of Spongebob's misfortunes, he becomes extremely sick with the Suds.

Effects of the Suds on Spongebob's body ranged from bubbles coming out of him every time he would sneeze, to his eye rolling down his body and out of place. And all of this happened because Spongebob forgot to shut his fridge before accidentally falling asleep in the kitchen.

Well, that mistake did have an impact on me for a brief period in my childhood. Yes, I actually believed that the Suds were real. Whenever the fridge was opened, I would scream at whoever opened the fridge to close it because I was worried that they would accidentally forget to close it.

And I knew if that ended up happening, my house would turn into an environment of the Ice Age, and I would become very sick with bubbles coming out of my body. Since I believed what could happen in Spongebob was real, I became afraid of the refrigerator because I did not want to see my house become absolutely frozen over and get sick from the Suds.

I personally avoided opening the fridge myself at times because of my fear of getting the Suds. I don't think my parents understood why I was so afraid of the refrigerator until they saw what they thought was causing my fear. When my mom finally viewed the episode, she knew it was Spongebob tricking me into believing something very silly. I forgot specifically how my mom did it, but she proved to me in some way that the refrigerator will not freeze over our house, and I cannot get become sick just by leaving the fridge open.

After that lesson, I decided to believe my mom. And ever since then, I have been able to not only open the fridge, but leave it open for extended periods of time with ease. I now can walk up to the fridge and am aware that I will never get sick from it. I guess you remember some Spongebob episodes more than others, and I don't think there will ever be any crazier reason for remembering a particular episode more than the reason why I remember the classic episode "Suds."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
