Why Staying Home For Spring Break Is Great

It's officially springtime, which means that spring break has already happened or is just around the corner. While most people are packing up to go on holiday, I was packing to head home to good old New Milford, CT. Now I will say that I was jealous of all my adventuring friends, but I do have to say that going home for spring break was pretty amazing. The following are just a few reasons why even if you don't get to party it up this spring break, you can still have an amazing time at home.

1. You get your own bed

I don't know about anyone else, but I love my bed with all my heart. When you go on vacation you always have to stay in crappy hotel beds, which are never comfortable. Going home has the advantage of your very own bed which means that, unlike all those vacationers, you get a perfect nights sleep every night.

2. You get to catch up on all your shows or start new ones.

When you're at home with nothing to do you are able to come to the realization that you actually have free time. Luckily for every college student, Netflix exists which means that you can catch up on a show that you've been missing, or start binge watching a new one. I personally binged my way through "The Flash" and hold no regrets.

3. You can go to all your favorite places back home.

While at college you get homesick and, while not all the time, you normally miss specific things about home. One of the things that most people miss are the familiarities

of home. Since you have loads of free time at home over spring break it leaves you the perfect amount of time to visit all your favorite spots.

4. Spring break can mean a shopping break.

Spring break is at the essential time when you start going from wearing winter clothes to transitioning into summer. This means that all the stores are stocking up for summer and having super sales which you get to take advantage of. Not only can spring break mean new summer clothes, but there is also a bunch of cheaper winter clothes that you can stock up on for next year. It's a win-win situation.

5. You don't have to spend money unless you want to.

Going on vacation normally costs your parents money, but then you have think about all the souvenirs

and food that you buy. When you're at home not only do you not have to pay for food or anything else, but often times you can convince your parents to buy things for you. This gives you a huge advantage in that you don't have to waste a lot of your money and you get free trips provided by your loving parents.

6. It's the time when the weather allows you to start doing things outside.

Winter is leaving the air and spring is coming which means that the temperatures start to rise. Luckily most of the time spring break means that outdoor activities start to open again. Amusement park hours begin to increase, it's nice enough to go to parks, and the zoo is open which means you can go see all the new little animals. Being able to go outside opens the door of possibilities to new adventures and exciting trips within your hometown.

7. You get to drive.

One of the things that I miss the most as a college freshman at school is the ability to drive my car. Whenever I go home I often volunteer to drive just so that I can get as many hours of it in as possible. Since it's so nice out, that means you can start being that annoying person with their windows rolled down and music blaring. There is no other time to blast your jams and have a great time than driving in the car with friends.

8. You get to see your hometown friends.

While not all of your friends will have the same spring break as you, there are those who will which means you get to hang out with all the friends you haven't seen since Christmas. Not only do you get to go hang out, but college gives you so many stories that you never run out of things to talk about. So in that sense, thanks college for giving me talking points that never run out.

9. You can relax.

Now I know the whole point of going on vacation is to relax, but sometimes vacations can be so hectic that you don't end up relaxing as much as you thought you would. At home you get the maximum relaxation time possible because unless you or your family plans something, there is absolutely nothing in your daily agenda. This means you can make your own routine and do pretty much whatever you want.

10. You can go on a day trip.

No matter where you live there is always an interesting place close enough that you can go on a day trip. While it may not be as long as a regular vacation it allows you to get out of your hometown and do something fun. Day trips can take you anywhere and is only secluded by you. Grab some friends or family and take a trip to a museum, zoo, beach, or other new place. Daycations can lead you to your new favorite place and create new memories.

While I know that going home for spring break can seem like it sucks, in reality there are some amazing qualities it has. Don't forget that your time is what you make of it, and that even if you do go home for break it can still be amazing. I hope you guys have a great spring break and catch up on sleep!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
