Adventure is great. You can literally adventure anytime, anywhere, and with anyone if you set your heart to it. However, one of the greatest treats in life is sometimes best enjoyed with the company of none other than oneself.
The lone wolf.
The lone ranger.
The batman of the adventure world.
There are so many perks to solo adventuring. For example:
1. You don't have to answer to anyone.
For real though.
If you want to do anything, you don't have to constantly find a logical support for your decisions. Want to take that side path over there just for fun? WHY THE HECK NOT - NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU.
2. You can set your own pace.
Want to go slow? You can. Want to sprint? You can. Want to stop and rest and eat or take lots of awesome pictures without anyone yelling at you to hurry up? OH, YOU MOST DEFINITELY CAN.
3. When sh*t hits the fan, no one is there to judge you.
Granted, they might be able to save your life, but sometimes someone yelling in your ear about each and every conflict can get a little old.
4. Silence is bliss.
Have you ever been by yourself and just been able to hear the sound of your heartbeat or the way your breath regulates after an extensive amount of exercise? Reaching that summit and dropping your bag is so much more rewarding when it's just you and the summit; the breath of the wind matching the breath of your lungs. Two souls at peace with every ounce of your being.
5. Meeting new people is even more exciting.
When you're adventuring alone it can get... well... lonely, which is why it's absolutely amazing to meet new people and learn about their lives. Connecting with people in the wilderness has such a deeper meaning. You see people in their raw, natural state and it's beautiful.
6. Honestly, just seeing living breathing people is also very exciting.
Even if you're a little scared since it's been such a long time since seeing someone.
7. You can experience complete solitude.
Beautiful and terrifying all at once. Solitude is something that everyone craves but not everyone can achieve. True solitude is something of a joy to all those truly searching for it.
8. You can learn more about yourself.
Living in this fast paced world can tear you away from who you truly are. Sometimes getting out and being alone is the best way to grow and connect with yourself.
It's too easy for people to get attached to their technology and utilities. If we all forget how to experience nature, then we forget the true beauty of the world.
Get out.
Get adventuring.
Go be a loner for a while.
Or go adventuring with someone else, but just get outside and live naturally. It'll change you.
