The One Thing That We Don’t Do As Much As We Should

Nothing is more important than you!

The One Thing That We Don’t Do As Much As We Should
Vinicius Wiesehofer

There is so much that goes on in the world and our individual lives that sometimes, it all just seems too much. We've all experienced this feeling at some point, and we're all bound to deal with it again in the future. Even though life may get tough at times as new responsibilities and challenges are introduced, the most important thing to remember is to prioritize your own self. Self-care is something that should never be compromised; yet we find ourselves doing it more often than not. We place too much focus on school, work, and relationships at the expense of our own health and happiness. I am someone that can absolutely attest to this. I have spent so much of my time trying to appeal to others, living up to expectations and challenging myself to attain perfection, all at my own expense. I slowly but surely started to feel burnt out, disinterested and unmotivated. Even though I still have a long way to go in terms of prioritizing myself and putting myself first, I have been able to recognize and accept that self-care is necessary and should be practiced more often. Whatever it is that helps you reenergize and feel good, do it. Once you start putting yourself first, things fall into place. Work and school seem interesting, engaging and fun. The right relationships start to appear in your life. This is because once you put yourself first, you adopt a better mindset and outlook. Your energy and passion are reignited. Self-care allows you to see what's actually important and valuable in life; in fact, you start to realize your own worth and accept that you don't need to change for anyone or fulfill someone else's demand or expectation. You understand that you are enough as you presently are and that by being the best version of yourself, the right people, opportunities and experiences will appear in your life.

Around the age of 12, when I was deciding whether or not to be gay, Satan appeared on my left shoulder. “Ramsssey,” he said with that telltale lisp. “Come over to our side. We have crazy partiessss.” He made a strong case, bouncing up and down on my shoulder with six-pack abs and form-fitting Calvin Kleins. An angel popped up on the other shoulder and was going to warn me about something, but Satan interrupted- “Shut up, you crusty-ass bitch!’ The angel was pretty crusty. She disappeared, and from that moment forward I was gay.

Senior Year Is Here And I Am So Not Ready For It

I was you not that long ago. I was once an eager freshman, a searching sophomore, and a know-it-all junior. Now? Now I am a risk taker. Not the type that gets you in trouble with your parents, but the type that changes your future. Senior year is exciting. A lot of awesome things come along with being the top-dog of the school, but you, right now, are building the foundation for the next 4 years that you will spend in high school. I know you've heard it all. "Get involved", "You'll regret not going to prom", "You're going to miss this". As redundant as these seem, they're true. Although I am just at the beginning of my senior year, I am realizing how many lasts I am encountering.

Why Driving Drives Me Crazy

the highways are home

With Halloween quickly approaching, I have been talking to coworkers about what scares us. There are always the obvious things like clowns, spiders, heights, etc. But me? There are a number things I don't like: trusting strangers, being yelled at, being in life or death situations, parallel parking. All of these are included when you get behind the wheel of a car.
