Why Rutgers Is the Best School Ever

Rutgers is the best school on earth. This isn't just my opinion, it's a fact. Ask anyone here and they'll have the in's and out's of this school. But here are a few things you may not know about us Scarlet Knights though:

- We are home to more than 65,000 students from all 50 states and more than 115 countries. ~Mr. Worldwide~

- We are one of the BIGGEST schools in the nation with 47,000 undergraduates and more than 19,000 graduate students.

- Home to the home staters, with 86% Jersey residents.

- Out-of-state (still love you) at 14 percent.

- 47 percent men and 53 percent women (WHO RUN THE WORLD)

- More than half of the incoming class identifies as non-Caucasian which is evident because we are the most ~diverse~ school in the country.

- We make it rain with more than 80 percent of students receiving financial aid.

- Rutgers is also the eighth-oldest institution in the country and old is obviously gold.

- Rutgers is one of only 62 members of the Association of American Universities. (We're smart.) FYI Rutgers, alongside Princeton (yeah okay, whatever, still beat you in football) are the only two in New Jersey.

- Rutgers students ate 968,928 pizza slices alone (I definitely put a dent in that) in 2013 at the New Brunswick campus. This really doesn't surprise me.

- Rutgers played its second bowl game in 2005. ~SPORTS~

- More than 16,000 Rutgers students received their degrees in May 2014 and we're only getting stronger.

- The first college football game EVERRR in the United States was played on Nov. 6, 1869, when Rutgers beat Princeton (RU RAH RAH).

- RU Hungry has been featured (rightly so) on Good morning America and CN8. It was also included in the "101 Best Places To Chow Down on the Chow Down Count Down" (say that five times fast).

- For all you gym buffs out there, the College Avenue Gym (a.k.a. "The Barn") (Why did we stop calling it that?) (He gonna go lift at the barn sounds so much better) is the second gym on the site. The first gym was built in 1892 and burned down in 1930. (Probably burned down because of all the calories being burned.)

- Scarlet was not our official color until 1900 when Rutgers players started wearing scarlet handkerchiefs as a team. The Daily Targum had proposed this be the school color later on (We owe y'all).

- The original name of the Queensmen refers to the original name of Rutgers, Queen's college. You don't need a queen when you've got all these Knights. Am I right?

- "On the Banks of The Old Raritan" is the school song / alma mater but the "The Bells Must Ring" is our official fight song. The "RU RAH RAH" chant is used by the Rutgers glee club to "interrupt" other songs by other clubs when they would perform. (Oh you sly dogs, you.)

- Rutgers is one of only nine colonial colleges established before the American Revolution (AMERICAN BEFORE AMERICA).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
