Becoming a sister in a sorority is a great gift in itself. You are blessed with a number of girls who you can go out with, stay in with and rely on for anything. Becoming a sister is a great process, and perhaps the most amazing time during that process is when your big sister is finally revealed. All of a sudden, you have a new best friend, role model and veteran to show you the ropes for all things sorority and college related. A big sister is for life, and the relationship you two share is unlike any other. My big is my best friend and my rock. She keeps me sane and helps me with everything I need, and I value our time together so much. Your big is someone who gives you endless confidence, provides you with so much laughter and endless inside jokes, and challenges you to be the best version of yourself.
1. She showers you with love (and crafts). When your big is finally revealed to you, you are showered with crafts and hugs and flashes from iPhone cameras. The girl flirting is over, and you two can finally scream your heads off and Instagram as many pictures together as you want. Your big is your number one fan and you love every second of it. There is actually a person out there who is basically obsessed with you and always does fun things with you all of the time.
2. She gives the best advice about everything and anything. Your big is older and wiser than you are. She knows so much about people and life and how to deal with anything that may be thrown your way. Therefore, she is kind of your therapist and can give you the world's greatest advice. She also knows you better than most people, maybe even yourself, which makes her advice that much more valuable.
3. You have someone to talk to 24/7. Exchanging text messages and snapchatting your big is a constant thing. Whether you are talking about what you're going to make for dinner or how bored you are in class, you are always talking. Your big is someone who you can talk to about literally anything. The best part about your conversations is that you genuinely care about each other's days.
4. She is the greatest role model and mentor. My big is the greatest role model ever and I look up to her so much. Your big has had many more experiences than you and you can learn from those experiences. You are lucky enough to have someone to look up to and someone to teach you their ways. If your big is anything like mine, you have big shoes to fill!
5. Even after she graduates, nothing will change. Nobody wants to think about their big graduating and leaving them. But, as sad as graduation day will be, your relationship will not change. Texts and snapchats will still be a regular thing, as will weekly dinner dates. A big/little relationship is different than other relationships; it is for life.
