Why I Prefer To Be Single Right Now

So many people are always asking, "When are you going to get a boyfriend?" or "Do you have a boyfriend?" For so long now I have been hearing these questions, and it can be tiring. Here are the reasons why I am okay with being single.

1. I don't have to worry about texting someone back.

Well, except my mom because she gets angry when I don't. Other than that, though, I am golden. No mass of angry texts when I leave my phone for five minutes.

2. I don't have the time to fend for someone else.

I really don't understand how couples are together 24/7 because I can barely find time for sleep. I go to classes, go to work, eat, and sleep. Where do I fit in spending time with another human being?

3. I don't have to spend money on someone.

I mean, I'm a broke college student. Do I really have the funds to be buying my boyfriend some new Nike's or sweatshirts? No, I like to spoil myself too much... and buy food and coffee.

4. I can look at and talk to any guy I want.

I like to be able to look at an attractive guy, or just talk to my guy friends whenever I want to. When I do this I don't want a jealous boyfriend to freak out on me.

5. More food for me.

Let's face it, I love food. The less I have to share, the happier I am.

6. There is no room in my bed for another body.

Basically I can't even fit on my bed because my two dogs have taken it over. So I really don't even have room for me on my bed.

7. I don't have to look nice if I don't want to.

Look, I know that I am never entitled to look nice for anyone, ever, but I see you girls getting all made up to go to a movie. I like to be comfy when I watch a movie, so that's not for me.

8. I'm selfish.

I'm not really going to lie, I am pretty selfish. How fair would it be of me to date someone that wants my attention and to spend time with me. To be honest, I like to be alone way to often and I like to give attention to myself. Especially when I just finish my make up, like "Hello gorgeous."

9. Friends are more important than a guy in my opinion.

I would so much rather spend time with my girls watching movies at three a.m. with pizza and ice cream. They don't care how ugly I look after work or what weird movies or shoes I like, they are going to love it all. I feel like I would not be this comfortable with a guy.

Now I know you all probably think I'm dogging on guys in relationships or girls that choose to be in relationships, but it isn't. It's all just to poke fun and to get people to stop asking me why there is no guy in my life.I mean a few may be true, or maybe all of them but don't take them so seriously. Also, for all of you guys and girls out there, enjoy the single life! You may miss it a little when you get married.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
