Why Old Row Official Is The Worst

"A butt AND a yeti cooler? Like." -Frat Boy

Before I begin, let me make a few things perfectly clear:

I do not think girls are "slutty" for showing their bodies. If you feel good about yourself then I think you should be able to take any type of picture you want of yourself. It's your body, your Instagram, do your thing.

I also am not ignorant in regards to men. I don't think that my boyfriend is perfect. I don't think that when you find the right guy he'll only care about what's in your heart and nothing else. I know that guys appreciate girl's bodies just like girls can appreciate a guy's 6 pack.

However, this post is specifically directed at the Instagram account "Old Row Official."

I too think it's funny when someone falls over from drinking too much at a tailgate. But what I don't understand is girl's butts on coolers. Can someone help me? At what point did it become a goal to be a girl on this account sitting in panties on a cooler? Is your goal purely to get Instagram likes? I find that sad. I think your worth is so much more than guys who want to only see your body on Instagram.

So I want to say congratulations.

Congratulations. You did it. You took your pants off, had a frat guy write "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" across your butt, and sat on a cooler. That takes talent.

Congratulations, you and your sorority sister took your shirts off and posed for the camera in only panties so guys would like your picture.

Congratulations, you let some guy take a picture at an up-angle of your body on a boat, again, so the world could see it and everyone would know just how sexy you truly are.

I think feeling sexy and confident is important. But this isn't that. This is about chasing your worth in horny college guys on Instagram. This is about making your college experience all about drinking alcohol through a funnel topless for the whole party to see instead of finding who you are. This is about being an example for all the young women in this world. I don't want my little sister growing up thinking her worth is in her body and in the 10,000 likes on an Instagram account. I want her to know her worth is in what's inside, and if she feels beautiful and confident then I'll have done my job. She will not find that on Old Row Official.

This isn't a post from "an angry feminist." This is a post from someone who's tired of seeing Old Row Official on my explore page because every frat guy sees their posts and thinks "A BUTT AND COOLER I HAVE TO LIKE IT! AND A GUN?? SUPER LIKE!"

I also find it sad that on Instagram people are having babies, graduating, volunteering months in different countries, asking for donations for sick relatives, sharing their stories of empowerment, and trying to spread awareness for certain disabilities, and yet, these are the posts that continuously get plenty of likes. Can someone on old row official write "www.therword.org" on their butt? Maybe then people would listen.

So I'll leave you girls on Old Row Official with this:

Get your ass off the cooler and go to class.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
