Being a female in today's world is extremely difficult. We are told to act, dress and behave a certain way. We are taught from a young age how to interact with our male counterparts and the certain roles we are assumed to take on. A girl should never be too slutty and wear revealing outfits. We are expected to be chased after by men and to never talk back to them. This world is afraid of powerful women. This society cant seem to handle a woman who knows what she wants. Whether it be a job she wants or a love interest, women are always expected to take the back seat of life and just enjoy the ride.
This theory ends now. What is wrong with a powerful, independent woman? Women need to stop being frowned upon for being a go-getter. If there is a job position you want but it is in a male dominated field, don't let that intimidate you. Make that first move and give out your resume or set up an interview. Show that we can compete in this male dominated society.
A major aspect us women are frownded upon for is being too forward with a man. We are never expected to make the first move. We're supposed to sit back and wait for them to ask for our number, to text us first, to kiss us first and everything after that. What's wrong with a girl who kisses the guy first or the girl who texts first? I hate to say it, but chivalry is dead. We can't sit around and wait for a guy to come knocking on our door with a bouquet of flowers and ask us to go on a date with them. Everything is now done over text. If a man you like hasn't texted you in a couple days, text them first. Many guys actually search for a girl who is not afraid of making the first move.
The way I see it is, if you don't move first on something you want, you'll miss it. Why would you ever want to miss out on an opportunity that could change your life? You march your perfect, ambitious butt into the boss' office and state your case on why you are right for the job. Text that guy first and let him know that you are thinking of him and want to hang out. Don't like the way something around you runs? You stand up and make your voice heard no matter who may criticize you.
Our lives are way too short to be spent on taking the back seat in life. Stop letting the world control us and step up to the plate. Raise your voice and chase after whatever it is you want, it may be the best experience of your life. Think about how your life can be impacted by the one small step of making the first move. That resume you sent to the boss may land you the job. The man you kissed first may end up being your true love. Don't let life race past you, strap up and get ready for the ride and enjoy all life shows you on the way.
