Why I Am Obsessed With Harry Potter and I'm Not Even Mad

Harry Potter is not a phase.

Why I Am Obsessed With Harry Potter and I'm Not Even Mad

Growing up in a generation full of Harry Potter books and movies, I instantly fell in love with the whole idea of Harry Potter itself. I (still) own all of the hard cover books in a chest, currently have a gryffindor jersey, a time turner necklace and multiple small things signifying my love for the series. I even stood in line for 4 hours to ride on the Harry Potter ride when the park first opened. So one can clearly tell how obsessed I am with Harry Potter, and here are the reasons why:

1. Re-reading the books is just as exciting.

I have read each novel over 5 times each and I never get bored of what they say. I can never stop reading, I cry at almost every heart filled scene, and I never let myself skip books.

2. I automatically use Harry Potter references regardless of what is going on.

Harry Potter references are 99% of my jokes and I can't guarantee that if you do not get them that I can still be friends with you. If you do not get a Harry Potter reference that I make, there is seriously something Ron with you.

3. I know every main character's birthday and even the actor's birthday.

Like how this article was created on Tim Felton's Birthday. Happy Birthday Tim Felton! (September 22nd)

4. I have planned out my outfit for the Yule Ball and plan on going yearly.

Every December a group called the Sexy Nerd Society in Omaha, Nebraska throws a replica Yule ball! The Yule Ball has a sorting hat, tri wizard tournament games, butter beer/other HP themed drinks, and even has a formal cosplay tournament and the winner gets $500. Who wouldn't want $500 just for dressing up in a cute dress or Harry Potter themed outfit while being surrounded by other Harry Potter nerds?

5. When Severus, Dobby, and Dumbledore died my heart broke.

Words cannot explain how much I loved those characters.

6. I want to go to the UK just to go to see all of the Harry Potter places.

I want to see gringotts, platform 9 3/4, hogsmeade, Hogwarts, the ministry of magic, godrics hollow, and so many more!

7. I was offended on my 11th birthday when my parents didn't give me an acceptance letter (and I may have just paid to get my own, even if it was 8 years late..)

I guess to be a little bit fair I didn't ask for one but they should just know, right? ;)

8. I knew my house before I even took the sorting quiz on Pottermore.

I knew before I even took the quiz I was Gryffindor and I knew that no other house would feel more like home!

9. I have a Harry Potter tattoo.

And i plan to add more to it eventually! It could even turn into a quarter sleeve ;)

10. I can quote the books better than I can remember any other novels I have ever owned.

11. When someone says they do not like Harry Potter I have to reconsider if I actually like them or not, or whether we can be friends from that point.

12. When someone says "Always" to me I take that so highly that it is more of an unbreakable promise than a pinky promise.

Clearly, Harry Potter will always hold a dear place in my heart.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
