Hero: a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
They call him Bert the Hurt, but he's actually the biggest teddy bear you'll ever meet. When I was younger, teachers and classmates always asked me who my hero was. Most kids went with the more generic version of what a super hero is. Saying things like superman or Spider-Man (don't get me wrong, Spider-Man came as a close second), because that's just what comes to mind when you think of the term "hero." My super hero is my daddy, and at age 17 I still believe this to be true. He has a heart of gold and never fails to show it. He's not your typical father of three girls. He's not the type of dad who tries to scare your boyfriend, or even tries to scare you for that matter. He's a friend, and a best friend in my eyes.
My dad is what you call the definition of goofy. He thinks he's a jokester, but we laugh anyway. Sometimes saying inappropriate things at the wrong times, but that's just him and who he is.
As a child, he would take me to the Dollar Tree during Christmas so that I could buy others gifts. My dad taught me the importance of giving, and what the true meaning of Christmas is really about.
This is the man, who every single time I was sick as a kid, would bring me home a Spider-Man action figure because he knew it would make me feel just a little bit better and brighten my day.
He always told me if I waited until I was 16 to get a boyfriend, then he would buy me any car I wanted (granted, he does own a car dealership), but I sure do wish I would have listened to him. Not because I would have gotten any car I wanted, but because he was just being protective. He is also the father of three girls, so you really have to give him credit for that.
He taught me how to ride a bike, how to bait a fish hook, shoot a basketball, drive, and how to follow my heart. He would do anything in his power to protect, provide, and care for his family, and that is why my daddy is my super hero.
