I love Valentine’s Day. I love being able to watch as many rom-coms as I want and not be judged, I love eating as much chocolate as I want while watching my rom-coms without being judged, and I love the sarcastic cards I find on the internet. Everything about this holiday is great. Especially the fact that I don’t have to worry about a boy to be my Valentine. While all my other friends are freaking out over who is going to be their Valentine I already know who mine is. While everyone is freaking out what they are going to wear on their fancy date I already know that sweatpants will work just perfectly. While everyone is out having their perfect Valentine’s Day date in hopes of getting laid that night, I know that I will be having a great time stuffing my face with pizza.
When I think of someone I want to be my Valentine I think of how I want it to be someone that understands me. Someone who can instantly know what type of mood I am in just by one look at me. Someone who knows that when I have been having a shitty week the only thing that can cheer me up, at that point, is a pepperoni pizza. I think of how I want someone who understands my sense of humor and will buy me a chocolate boyfriend because the world knows I can’t find a real one. I want someone who will be by my side for many years to come because I know that no matter what happens we are unbreakable. That is why for the past four years and many years to come my best friend has been and always will be my Valentine.
Valentine’s Day is the day that everyone gets to show their love and affection for the special people in their lives. Most commonly this has become a day for couples to go all out and remind each other how much they love one another. However, I use this day to remind my best friends how much I love and appreciate them. Each year we buy each other gifts, send each other cards and even post cute Instagram pictures to proclaim to the world how much we love each other. We do all the cute couple things except we do them with each other.
I choose to spend Valentine’s Day with my best friends because they understand me. They know what makes me happy, what ticks me off, and how to cheer me up when I need it. My best friends know me better than I know myself and I want the world to know how much I adore them. I try to show them how much I appreciate having them in my life as much as I can but I tend to go all out on Valentine’s Day. I want my best friends to know that there is no one else I would want to spend the day of love with because they are the most important people in my life.
