23 Reasons My Best Friend Is My Sanity

You probably had a name run through your head as soon as you read the title of this article, and maybe you didn't. Maybe your best friend is your dog, that's okay too. Maybe you have multiple best friends. I have many people that I consider to be my best friends. But we always have someone, furry or not, that we run to when we have a dilemma, when we have exciting news to share or when we need someone's shoulder to cry on. My best friend and I have known each other since I was five and she was three, therefore, she has definitely been there for me through absolutely EVERYTHING. Yes, we have had our fights and disagreements, but all the great duos do. She is the one I jump up and down with when I accomplish something great, she's the one who does my hair and makeup for my dates, and the one who listens to every single drama or pointless thing that happens in my life. I couldn't do life without her. She is my sanity.

Here is why:

1. She knows everything.

"When I say I won't tell anyone, my best friend doesn't count."

In fact, she's the first to know anything.

She already got screenshots of this conversation.

Who do you think I get all of my great pickup lines from?

Who do you think I get all my wise advice from?

She knows everything as soon as it happens and I'm so thankful that I have that person for me.

2. She's constantly reminding me of my worth.

I would be a mess if it wasn't for her.

3. She's my kind of crazy.

You're not best friends unless you spend your time laughing so hard that you snort and clap like seals.

4. Dance partners for life.

Kitchen dance parties are a normal thing. We do it all the time. We even have our own dances.

5. She tells me when I'm wrong.

Friends encourage you in your endeavors, best friends tell you when you're insane.

6. Constantly encouraging me.

No one knows how to make me feel better more than she does.

7. We can telecommunicate.

Some people call it creepy, but it happens on the norm.

More than once.

8. She's Seen Me Ugly Cry

9. She jumps up and down with me when I'm excited.

YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!

10. Secret Handshakes

11. We can eat junk food together with no shame.

Because a quart of ice cream and pizza are all we need.

12. She's the sister I never had.

She gets me.

13. We ugly laugh together.

Literally every single day.

14. She hears it first.

She is the first one I tell everything.

15. She's always overprotective.

She's worse than my mom, actually.

16. She's always there.

Even in the raw hours of 4 in the morning.

17. Constant reassurance of my beauty.

Even when I feel worthless.

18. She understands like no other.

Because that's what best friends are for!

19. Always there when I need a hug.

I can go for 2 hours of hugging right about now.

20. Roadtrip karaoke.

It's always time for a little Taylor Swift jamming!

21. Inside jokes.

Only we understand us.

Some of my favorites include: "She got me all dirty," "SAMMIE," "You just sit there. And you wait. And nothing ever happens." and "TAYHANKS"

22. Her closet is my own personal shopping mall.

Because why buy clothes when you already have another selection next door?

23. She's my person.

And I am hers.

...

Dedicated to Vanessa, Kara, Kelsey, and Paige. Thank you for being my rocks, my shoulders to cry on, and my cheerleaders.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
