Have you ever been in one of those moods where not even the cutest puppy in the world could make you crack a smile? You most likely have been at one point or another. However, have you ever found a song that fit your feelings perfectly and somehow gave you the tiniest glimpse of hope that just maybe you're not the only one feeling like this? I have. For some reason, music seems to heal people.
All around the world, music not only unites, but ignites. Music has been such a prominent part of people's lives since the beginning of the human race. Before we even had technology to record and produce music, we created it solely with our voices and whatever we had to make use of. People gather together in all sorts of settings and rejoice in the serenity, excitement, hope, and happiness that music emanates. Why do you think this is? Maybe it is because it's one of the most beautiful things that we as humans can create that cannot be touched, smelled, or seen. It can only be heard.
When I listen to a song that really speaks to me, I lose myself in it. I close my eyes and I feel as though I'm in a different world where nothing matters except the words and rhythms that I'm hearing. It's as if the song is protecting me from whatever it is that I'm dealing with. I could be extremely sad and somehow feel better from listening to an artist put into words their deepest feelings that relate to mine. Even if a song doesn't have words to it, it can still affect me in the same way.
In my opinion, music has the ability to move mountains. It is one of the most powerful forces in the world. I've even felt like becoming a better person after some of the songs that I've heard. I don't know why it has the effect that it does, but it can send someone into uncontrollable tears and it can also lift a person's heart. Music is a way for us to reach out to the world and somehow form our innermost emotions into a beautiful thing that has the potential to change people's perceptions. If you ever feel like your soul is hurting and you don't know where to turn, play a song that makes you happy and I promise you won't ever find a better medicine.
