Monkeys vs. Robots, is it a popular debate? To be honest I'm not sure, but it's a conversation starter. In a debate of nature vs. technology, it always makes one wonder what will dominate the other in a society so dependent on technology. Which brings up the question will humans be able to survive as they did from the beginning if technology would cease to exist? That's a bit boring so let's make it Monkeys vs. Robots to spice up that idea a bit. My position in the argument stands by the monkey as the reasons I shall list below. Enjoy.
1. Monkeys share the same ancestry as humans.
Humans were the ones capable of creating technology in the first place. Monkeys share many similarities with humans. Since humans seem to be the controller of robots in a sense of technology, that would make the monkeys higher ranking in terms of status. Also they have human like hands they can open things.
2. Robots are controlled by technology.
There's an off switch for everything, don't give me that bullsh*t that robots got too smart and cannot be turned off. They run on wires and electricity not Red Bull. Also technology is not a sure thing. If it gets wiped out on the planet at the rate were going at, we'll soon have to fend off the land like the cavemen and women did. Then the robots have no chance since technology would cease to exist.
3. Technology can be destroyed.
If Star Wars taught me anything it's that there is always a point of destruction in which something can be destroyed, sorry Death Star. Or to simplify things, turn the damn machine off. If you get rid of the power source, the technology can no longer function therefore the Robots can no longer function. There is no technology that cannot be destroyed, ask any iPhone user with a cracked screen, they'll tell you.
4. Technology is created by man.
Man is able to control the robots through technology, because it is man who created the ability to harness electricity into an energy source. Also shout out to Nikola Tesla, we all know Thomas Edison ripped you off. Since humans are able to control technology, until we f*ck with artificial intelligence too much, they are able to contain the robot's power. Even if our iPhones do pull a Her, just go back to point 3 and destroy the power source. Man did not make monkeys therefore, cannot control them. Try to put them in a zoo and you'll just create hate and resentment for them when they do take control.
5. Monkeys can reproduce, therefore live on for generations.
Robots have to rely on man to enhance and improve their systems. If man decides to abandon their projects, the machines cannot live on. Monkeys can rely on nature in order to keep their species alive for generations. Therefore do not need human assistance to continue on.
6. Evolution can work in monkeys favor.
If humans were able to discover fire and learn to walk up right, who says that in a million years monkeys won't be able to accomplish more.
7. Monkeys can live off the earth, robots need an energy source.
Monkeys live in nature, therefore if the end of the world did occur and all sources of energy were to be wiped out of civilization, the monkeys would be fine. Robots on the other hand would cease to exist without some sort of energy source. Unless they're solar powered, but then they would only be able to have some form of charge for only a couple of hours before they need to power back up. Monkeys don't need any of that, all they need is a banana and they're good to go.
8. Monkeys are an intelligent species.
Monkeys can feel emotion, robots cannot. Robots actions are based upon the orders of some form of intelligence. You piss a monkey off and they'll come after you no question about it. Monkeys are also capable of motor skills and forms of communication. Some monkeys are even able to learn sign language. As I've stated in point six, who knows what else they are capable of learning.
9. Any robot movie ever.
Any movie in which a protagonist has to fight a robot, the robot always loses. The Terminator, Robocop, Transformers, I Robot, Blade Runner, The Matrix. Unless you're WALL-E or the fun sidekick in Star Wars, you're screwed.
10. Planet of the Apes.
For anyone who has seen the movies, I rest my case.
As you can see my point has been made. I believe that if one were to destroy the other and take over society, it would be monkeys for the following reasons of their human like abilities to think and animal like nature to kill. The only thing that would refute my argument would be if a cyborg monkey would be created. Or Aliens would come and wipe out all of existence either way. Thank you for your time.
