“I like big butts and I can not lie.”

Sir Mix-A-Lot said it best in his 92’ hit song that dared to challenge the way that pop culture viewed female sexual attractiveness.

Throughout the Black community, women with large butts, curvaceous hips and ample sized breasts were seen as the most attractive and typically had little to no trouble in finding a date for the night.

Of course, having these physical attributes doesn’t guarantee a successful love life, but let's be honest, it certainly does come in handy.

On my quest to seek out the answers to this age-old question, I asked a young man who admittedly has a thing for women with voluptuous curves, which happens to be my fiance and in further analysis, I found some intriguing scientific information that backs up a few of his claims.

Here are the top three reasons why the “juicy booty” has infiltrated not only the hearts of men but, mainstream media as well.

1. HAVING A BIG BUTT MAKES YOU A BETTER MOM

Seriously, there's scientific evidence that suggests that women with a considerable amount of lower "cushion" directly correlates to them being superior mothers. Okay, I'm only joking. Before you start to write me a nasty two paragraph explanation on why my comment was not only sexually degrading but unjustifiable, give me a chance to redeem myself.

I think it's fair to state that being a loving mother has nothing to do with physical appearance, but science may have made a connection between men's fascination with the "bubble butt" and procreation. According to an article published in the Science Times, women with a curved spine not only contributes to the appearance of a larger bottom but may have also served as a biological advantage in procreation. "men love women with big butts because they are always subconsciously associated with having increased activity during pregnancy[.]" The study of early civilization suggests that women with a spine curvature of atleast 45 degrees were able to search for food later in their pregnancies and bear children with greater ease.

2. "THE MORE THE MERRIER"

As you can see by the title, the idea is that the larger the butt, the more fun you can have between the sheets. Know what I'm sayin'? *wink* *wink*. Women are seeking a curvier appearance for a justifiable reason. Throughout history, the ideal woman was depicted as a sensual and voluptuous figure with dramatic curves. It wasn't until the 20th century that women began seeking "thinspiration" as their body inspiration. This conscious shift to a softer more rounded hourglass frame could be society's way of taking back the unique aspects of womanhood, leaving in its path the unrealistic currently held expectations of female beauty.

3. EXUDES HEALTH AND SELF CONFIDENCE

Just because you have some extra baggage in you carriage doesn't mean that you're the pillar of health. But if you are booty gifted, hopefully, you aren't obsessing nor stressing yourself out with society's push for thinness. Instead, you make conscious healthy choices that benefit you and those around you and in doing so, you inspire others to accept and love the skin they're in.

Whether your derriere is big and bodacious or tiny and petite, there is power and hope in self-love. The standard of beauty shouldn't be defined in one singular mold but should expand to encompass the various shapes and sizes that reveal what it means to be a beautiful woman.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
