In a world where hatred takes precedence over any other action, and where violence seems to be what many believe is the solution to problems, why has everyone forgotten the simple concept of love?
If everyone just remembered to love, the world we live in would be a much safer and enjoyable place. We all get dealt bad cards in life, but it is most important to remember to always find the positives in those terrible situations and let love help you find your way.
Somehow, this has been forgotten. Somehow, we hold grudges, we judge each other, we yell and scream at each other, we break relationships, and we turn our backs on each other when we need each other the most. I’m not entirely sure when the human race forgot how strong the power of love really is, but love is definitely the most powerful weapon in the world. It truly is a magical thing.
Sadly, the people who forget the power of love are the ones who were unfortunate enough not to experience it. But, everyone is capable of loving and being loved and if you dig deep within yourself, no matter how consumed you are by hatred, you can find your way back to love.
There was a time in my life that I felt so unlovable. I had so much anger and hate brewing inside of me that I kept myself from loving others, and, most importantly, loving myself. I was so scared and hurt that I kept myself closed off from the possibility of love. If I continued down this path of self-loathing, I may have ended up in very dark place. I think that happens to a lot of people, mostly the crazy, psychotic people we hear about in the news. You can only be capable of harming others and taking their life if you are so blind to love. Honestly, I feel bad for people like that, people who are so sick in the head that they can only feel better by killing others or threatening others.
What I do know is that love saved me. Just the thought of having a love so strong and pure in my life saved me from hurting and hating myself. I was depressed and lost, and did not really know where my life was heading. I did not think I would ever be loved or happy in the future, but thankfully, a little warmth in my heart reminded me that if I am capable of loving others and myself, then I, too, am worthy of being loved.
Luckily, I found the love I so patiently was waiting for. The true, pure love that lightened up the darkness I for so long had surrounded myself in. I found love, and it saved me from myself. It saved me from spiraling out of control. And if it saved me, then I have no doubt that it can save anyone. I have no doubt that it can protect us from harm and danger. I have no doubt that it can make our world a better place.
So, I guess the important thing to remember is to always pick love over hate. Remember to pick life over death. Most of all, remember that love comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, religions, and forms. There is no defining quality of love. Love is just that, it is simply love: the most powerful weapon in the universe. Love will always conquer all.
