There was a point in my life where I was hesitant to talk to those around me. With a little bit of practice and maturity, I found others were just as willing to talk to me as I was with theml.
I wouldn't classify myself as the Distracting Talker because I don't let talking distract me or others from completing important tasks in such situations like work or school. I am certainly not a Egocentric Talker in that I don't talk just to hear myself speak. I am not a Commiserative Talker in that I try to get others to pity with me. Gossip Talker is also an inaccurate description of who I am. So what kind of talker am I? The Casual Talker - I find myself talking about everything and anything.
The benefits of having a friend that loves to converse is not a bad thing. For those who find themselves in a similar relationship with talking or for those who just want to shed some perspective on why someone in your life just likes to talk …. Here are some reasons:
1. Talking fills up the empty space. It takes one person to break the silence.
2. Talking allows you to develop a voice (literally). Whether you converse about politics or the not so epic event that happened to you today, developing a voice helps enhance character.
3. Talking leads to meeting new people. There are 7 billion people in this world each with a story to share.
4. Talking is an art. It's all about correct phrasing and good timing.
5. Talking helps relive embarrassment. Life is awkward, so it's better to just laugh it off.
6. Talking is needed for networking. Communicating with potential employers is always good.
7. Talking helps get you out of tricky situations. Mastering the art of talking yourself out of something.
8. Talking helps get you what you want. If you never ask for it, then how do you expect others to know what you want?
9. Talking about everything and anything is pretty easy and becomes more natural with practice. Conversing about the weather is always a safe place to start.
10. Talking prompts others to talk as well. To be a good talker one must also be able to be a good listener
And the last thing to remember...
