As an involuntary member of the "morning people" club, I feel not only a minority, but beyond blessed. Mornings have a distinctly different definition to those who like mornings versus those who are as anti-morning as they get. Morning people tend to have a much more positive outlook on the start of their day.
How do you know if you're a morning person?
Do you schedule 8 a.m. classes by choice? Have you ever seen the sun rise? Do your weekend days start before 7 a.m. frequently? Do you go to bed before 10 p.m. at least three days a week? If you answered yes to almost all or all of these questions, welcome to the club.
Mornings just happen to be my favorite time of the day. Waking up with the sun reminds me every day of the beauty our Earth has and the natural phenomena that happens each day. As Annie so graciously sang to us as a reminder, the sun most definitely does and will come out tomorrow. Being there to watch it is such a great way to have a fresh start to your day and be reminded to let go of the sorrows of yesterday.
Another spectacular reason I love mornings can be summed up in one word: coffee. Coffee happens to be my other half and it conveniently goes hand in hand with mornings. There is no better feeling than waking up before the rest of the world with the smell of coffee throughout your house and a cup of it in your hand. Add a bagel and I promise you've never been happier.
Not only does the relaxing side of me love mornings, the productive side also fares pretty well. If I have a big paper due or an important exam to study for, I make sure to plan on working on those tasks early in the morning. Whether I go to a cafe, the library, or stay home I can practically guarantee quality work and efficiency until about 11 a.m. (after that I can't promise anything). The best part about being productive in the morning is that when you're finished, you still have almost the whole day to relax and enjoy other activities with those anti-morning people who have just crawled out of bed.
I'm nowhere close to being a statistician, but I would guess about 85 percent or more of the people I know would never consider themselves a morning person. When you Google Image Search "mornings," you are provided with the truth that people on Earth do not generally enjoy waking up early. I find that unfortunate because I have so many reasons that I love mornings. Being a morning person makes you unique and gives you so many reasons to be happy and embrace that uniqueness. Its just a part of who you are.
To all my fellow morning people: keep on doing you, you're wonderful.
