Why I Look Up To My Little Brother
Michelle Falgout

Being a big sister for the past 18 years has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I'm so lucky to have a little brother that will always be one of my biggest role models. Despite being two years younger than me, he is wise beyond his years and inspires me in many different ways. I will always look up to him, especially because he's about eight inches taller than me. He's taught me so many things about life, faith and family that have molded me into the woman I am today. We've been through absolutely everything together and I'm so thankful that I grew up with such a great man. I know I don't say it every day, but you need to know how just much I appreciate your friendship, little brother.

On June 19, 1997, you entered the world and completed our crazy family. Growing up with you by my side made life so much better. We always had so much fun playing games in the pool or hide and seek throughout the house. We drove our parents crazy with our wild behavior but, to be honest, it was totally worth it. I have so many memories that make me smile when I think of how much fun we had growing up. Looking back, I'm so proud of the man that you have become.

Growing up, playing sports has always been a major part of our lives. From watching you play t-ball to playing baseball in college, I've always been your number one fan. Even though I embarrass you by cheering too loud or constantly waving at you on the field, it's been an honor watching you grow as a player. Whether it was baseball, basketball or football, your dedication and commitment to the game has always inspired me to push myself in life. You leave everything you have on the field and constantly encourage your teammates to never give up.

One thing that has made me such a proud big sister throughout the past few years is your relationship. You have always been a sweetheart, so it's no surprise to me that you treat your girlfriend with the utmost respect. To be honest, I've always been a little jealous of how perfect your relationship is. You have the qualities of a man that every woman looks for in a relationship. You have loved her unconditionally for almost four years now, and you are always willing to go out of your way to make her the happiest girl I the world. Seeing you guys be so real and silly with each other always gives me hope. I look up to you so much for that, because you give me an example of the kind of relationship that I want in the future. You show me what it's like to be in love with your best friend and I'm so happy for you. I hope that one day I will find a guy as caring and sweet as you are, buddy.

No matter what mood I'm in, you always know how to put a smile on my face. Even if we're being embarrassing at the Statue of Liberty or dancing in the hallways of hotels, you can always make me laugh until I cry. You have the best personality and brighten up a room with your wit or sarcasm.

We've been through some hard times together, little brother. In many different situations, you have always been so strong. Since I'm probably one of the most emotional people on the planet, having you be there for me has kept me sane throughout my life. You motivate me to be as strong as you are even when times get tough. You've been there for the tears and stuck by my side no matter what. Even when we have arguments about silly things like over how I always tell people that we're twins, you have never given up on me. You always reassure me that immature boys don't deserve me and that I'm too good for them, and I'm so thankful for that.

Lastly, I look up to your unwavering faith. Throughout the past few years, my own faith has been challenged and put to the test. I currently have no idea what I'm even doing and find it hard to understand the plan set out for me. Witnessing your passion to seek the Lord makes me so happy. You have always been so in touch with your faith and help show me what a true man of God looks like. Although I don't show it as much as I should, I really am proud that you continue to go to church and pray before every meal. It shows me that your love of God can never be brought down.

I love you so much, little brother. There are so many things that I'm truly proud of you for, and I hope you know just how much of an effect you have had on my life. I don't know what I would do without your fun personality, constant faith and passion. I'm so thankful to have such an amazing role model like you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
