Do you spend all day in classes and then all night studying just to sleep for two hours roll out of bed and do it all over again? Do you stay in your room and watch Netflix all day? Do you ever feel yourself doing the same thing and finding no purpose in your life?
Living a balanced lifestyle can help you feel better about yourself and put things into perspective. Make sure you take time to do something fun several times a week and take time just for you. If all you do is work you are going to burn yourself out and find yourself very unhappy.
Along with taking time to do something fun by yourself and getting some good quality alone time, spend time with God and claiming his promises that you are loved and never alone. It is important to stay connected alone and is the single most important thing you can do to keep a balanced lifestyle.
Make sure you spend time with friends at some point. Even if you carve out time just once a week to connect with friends and focus on things other than what you have to get done.
Make sure you are eating healthy and drinking water. Drinking water alone can help your brain function and keep you healthy longer. I know it is easy to just grab that pop tart and run to class but take time to eat some balanced meals and it will make you feel so much better which in turn will help your mental health.
Physical activity is important. Even if you study while you walk on the treadmill that is better than nothing. It is good to try and set aside time to do something active. This will help you channel energy and frustration out of your body and will also help you sleep better. If you can do some strong physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day that will help your brain function as well as your physical health, you can even do it with a friend and get your socialization in for the day as well!
Living a balanced lifestyle is important to stay healthy and happy. It is just as important to take care of yourself mentally as it is physically. Don’t forget that it is the little things that make a difference like getting enough sleep, or doing something physical throughout the week. Now I know it is easier said than done but try and put yourself on a schedule and map out each day. This will help you manage your time and make sure that you are taking advantage of the time in your day, and keeping you prioritized.
It is so easy to let your life control you instead of controlling your life and eventually becoming burned out, depressed, and unhappy. Make sure you are living intentionally. Make the most of all your time don’t let yourself become overwhelmed.
