Why I Left Disney Early

Why I Left Disney Early

So I am ready to tell the story of why I left Disney. I have come to terms with everything and I am ready to let it out. Sometimes it is better to get everything off of your chest and I think I can inspire others with my story. So as many know I was accepted to the Disney College Program Fall 2016 for merchandise (I was also merchandise my first program) and I left my program in October. Through the Disney College Program Facebook page I found two wonderful girls to live with. They were the sweetest girls ever and I got along with them so well. So we decided that we are going to go random because we wanted to do six people because it would be a little bit cheaper for the apartment like the rent. So we got down there and our apartment was in Chatham Square and it was a six person two bedroom so that meant there was three per room. In the rooms there was a bunkbed and then a single bed so me and the two girls that I met decide to room and one right now little bit of the bigger room and actually had like bathroom and closet in there it was huge. And then the other three girls roomed together so kind of worked out perfectly and everything was going amazingly I found out my location and I was going to be at Magic Kingdom in fantasyland you know I got to pixie dust little girls every day and I was being called a princess by these little girls. Then I just wasn't really happy at the moment I got my days off and I would just lay in bed and go on my laptop not going to parks which is really weird for me. So my mom and my two aunts came down to visit me feel like a little over a week and it was I want is like the best thing ever and I love seeing them I love see my mom and everything but it made things more difficult for me because I start to really miss home as this would be my first time away from home for the holidays. So I decided to plan a small trip home with a 4 day trip to go on surprise my family and I was so excited so I booked my tickets I was flying through Spirit because there is a airport close to my hometown and everyone was excited. Then hurricane Matthew was predicted so I kept watching the radar to see where this hurricane was and on Wednesday the day before I was supposed to leave it kept getting worse and worse. So I had my Disney class that day but before I even went to the class I went on and I canceled my Spirit tickets because I was so afraid that they're gonna cancel the flight because it kept saying that flights are gonna be canceled flights are gonna be canceled. So I went on I was looking for different tickets that were the closest I could fine to Pittsburgh which is about 45 minutes to an hour away from my house so I would have to get an Ãœber to come pick me up from the airport. I looked around and finally American airlines had had tickets still available for that day and the only problem was they were first class so I was like okay let's see much they are and I think they're like maybe 300 each I think and there was an hour layover in Charlotte. I book the tickets and I called my mom saying this is what's going on I'm going to get an Ãœber and everything will work out. So Thursday comes and it's like really early I think my flight left at like 9 AM or 10 AM so I got up at like 5 AM to get an Uber to the international airport in Orlando. I got to the airport and it was busy because so many people were trying to leave Florida. It was good I got their early because TSA was crazy too. I sat next to the nicest people in first class. Listen first class is amazing like you get actual glasses like glass cups to put your drinks in and free alcohol and better snacks so it was great and like they call you by like your last name like they're like Miss. Schultz can we get you anything else. So anyways when I get to Pittsburgh and I'm waiting for my bag and once I get it I go and order my Ãœber which cost like $60 or $70 and thankfully my aunts pitched in and split it so I didn't have to pay the whole thing. I finally got home and it was amazing got to see my mom and my dad and my cats and my nieces and my brother. I went to my school and saw my friends at my college and also on my ride in the Uber to my house I got an email from Spirit informing me my flight was canceled so I made the right decision buying first class American airlines tickets. As the day comes that I have to go back to Florida and I thought I would be excited but I was kind of like reluctant a little bit to go back and I don't know I just felt like I wanted to stay so I get back and I can't wait it's gonna be amazing when I get back. I love my job and everything and I get back and literally all hell breaks loose. My roommates are not cleaning the dishes before putting them in the sink and we have a dishwasher and they weren't emptying it. It was just a mess so I wrote a note that I had to go to work and I couldn't do anything and I was like hey guys you know just remember please do all of your dishes. Then one of the other girls writes a three page letter to all of us saying if you had time to write your note you have time to do all of the stuff. I'm like excuse me you had time to write your three-page letter I'm pretty sure you had time to do all of this. So it starts getting to the point were I was feeling bullied by two of my roommates. I would literally look out into my living room before coming out because I didn't want to deal with them. It was also getting to the point where all my roommates would go out to the parks or somewhere else and no one would ever ask me if I wanted to go to. I go back to work and I just wasn't feeling it at work anymore I was sick of everything and I was just ready to leave. I talked to mom and she said you can do it this is like mid October so you know you can do it. But I had lost it and I just sobbed over the phone to her. A few days later my Mom called me to let me know they had the money for my plane ticket and I left Disney on October 30, 2016. I have come to realize that going to Disney at this point and time for me was not right. I keep promising myself that I will go back but I have some things to finish here first. So that is why I left Disney.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
