Everyone in America knows the Kardashian family. And while most people know how they suddenly became famous, many simply continue to bash them. Not bothering to take a glimpse at their show Keeping Up With The Kardashians to understand what each member of the family is really like, most notably Kourtney. She is the oldest, and the one to whom I can relate with the most.
Kourtney Kardashian is a single mother to three children: Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick. Raising three kids alone is enough to make anyone crazy, but because of the support she receives from her mom and siblings, and (sometimes!) her ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, she is presumably doing just fine. One thing I like about Kourtney is that she is very careful to choose her words. Although I'm sure she is more witty than we are shown on the series, she really does listen to what her family says before she speaks.
Kourtney is very mature, and during the drama that was happening between her and Scott last year proves that she can face anything head on when times are tough. She always strives to be the bigger person when "brought into" an argument. Between her younger siblings and (almost always) her mom, Kris, bickering back and forth, she is usually seen as the one who is quietly processing the argument in and serves as the voice of reason in the famous clan.
She tends to be more judgmental and reserved, like me. But always has her family's best interest in mind. When Kim was crying over her diamond earrings beings lost in the ocean one time, Kourtney gracefully responded with, "Kim, there are people dying." And that's what has made her my woman crush every Wednesday. Kim is dramatic while Kourtney is her cool and relaxed counterpart. She also is a relaxed mother, from what I interpret on Keeping Up by making sure her children as well as she get an organic and balanced diet.
Scott Disick was a good boyfriend and partner to Kourtney; however, he let his own addictions and desires get in the way of raising a family by partying and drinking alcohol to the extent that he did not function during the day and could not help her with the children. Kourtney kept forgiving him and taking him back, when finally it was the last straw when photos were leaked showing him and another woman too close together in Monte Carlo. It was then that I had so much respect for her, not only as a celebrity but as a person. It literally takes all a person has to let go of a toxic relationship. It doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're strong.
Thank you Kourtney, for showing me what all a celebrity has to deal with in their personal life. As well as the pressure and scrutiny from the media, and don't forget the people who continue to bash you even though they haven't a clue what you are like as a person.
