In a world full of hatred, violence, and war, it's hard to keep hope that one day we will all feel peace. The media often highlights acts of terror, violent crimes, and offensive actions, which we see every day on the news and on the internet. It comes as no surprise when we see these things flooding the media, because in today's world, it's one bad thing after the other. We see people who are supposed to be world leaders criticizing and embarrassing each other in front of millions of people. We see people harassing others because of their race or religion. We see innocent men and women fighting for their lives because of violence. When does it end and what makes any of it okay? Enough is enough.
In a world full of hatred, violence, and war, it's hard to forgive. How do we let go of the negativity and move on? How do we change the way the world is going?
The answer is simple — kill with kindness.
Think about it. When you're upset and feeling like things won't get better for you or for the world, wouldn't it make you happy if someone you know or barely know reached out to you to let you know it's all going to be fine? Wouldn't it make you feel like there's actually good in the world?
When I see things on social media that my friends post, I make it a point to reach out to someone to let them know I'm thinking of them. If it were someone else reaching out to me, I'd feel like I'm cared about, like I matter to someone, like there is good in the world. Comment on their Facebook status. Send them a text. Call them. Do something.
Be chivalrous when you're out in public. Hold the door for someone. Pay it forward. Give up your seat on the train for someone who needs it more than you do. Believe it or not, these things make a huge difference.
My point is, instead of giving in to the media and getting caught up in yesterday's events, move forward and act kind. No act of kindness is ever wasted.
Kindness kills evil.
