Why JMU Has My Heart
Justina Ambroz

I have many homes: my permanent home with my parents, my temporary home that is my apartment, my sisterhood home that is Phi Mu, and my forever home which is James Madison University. If you attend JMU or attended JMU you can attest to the magical feeling of sitting on the quad on a breezy, spring day. You can brag about the kindness of everyone opening doors for one another (which is not done anywhere else, regularly). You are constantly smiling because as you walk through campus, you will always see someone else smiling, laughing, or talking with their friends.

I am sure that most college students will say this about their university, and they may be right since their university has their heart, but nothing compares to my university. JMU is also known as the Greatest Place on Earth and it did not get that title without some validity.

To the future Dukes -- begin to prepare yourself for the best four years (or more) of your life in Harrisonburg. Be aware that the opportunities available through JMU are endless. There is a multitude of clubs and organizations that you may join, there are endless opportunities to travel and explore, and there are alumni who love to give back to all their fellow Duke Dogs.

No matter the season you can bet that our campus will still be gorgeous. Through snow, rain, and sunshine our campus has a magical touch. Snow days are never fun, unless you go have a snowball fight on the quad or build a snowman next to the Jimmy Madison statue.

It's hard to describe why James Madison University is magical and special to almost everyone that attends and visits. On the best or worst days you can always count on your fellow Dukes to be there for you and can always walk around campus in order to realize how lucky we are to call JMU our home.

The people you will meet, the memories you will make, make this that happiest and most beautiful place on earth.

Prepare yourself for the most beautiful seasons, most beautiful sunsets, and most beautiful time of your life. James Madison University has my heart and always will.

God bless America and God bless JMU.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
