We all strive to be “perfect”, because who wants to be anything less than? We stress ourselves out daily trying to fit the cookie cutter mold of perfection and let’s face it, no one fits.
Miley Cyrus couldn't have said it any better, "Nobodies perfect, I gotta work it".
Well, being a college student, especially a college student living away from home, you learn very quickly that there is no such thing as perfect and life becomes about making the best of every disaster life looks you in the eyes, laughs, and throws at you.
Let’s be real--if you were “perfect” what would you even have to talk about?
We all want it, but let’s talk realistically here.
We all want the perfect house. Personally, my house looks like 14 toddlers live there with zero parental supervision. This is partially true; we are four college students that live there without parental supervision and I am not sure which is worse.
We want the perfect grades. Sure, this is something we all want to strive for, but sometimes this just doesn’t happen every time. No one likes those goody-two-shoes that beat you on every test anyway.
We want the perfect friends. Mine are perfect, though. Perfectly dysfunctional and I adore them for that.
We want the perfect car, but then what do you talk about when you’re driving somewhere? How you’ve spent the last two years keeping it in pristine condition or how you rear ended someone, your friend backed into you, or you had a baseball through your windshield?
We want the perfect hair, make-up, body. But, remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you should be your number one fan.
We want the perfect bank account. LOL.
We want the perfect dating life. Well, Mr. and Mrs. Perfect do not exist and you are going to have to fail a lot before you find your Mr. Right. They say right and not perfect for a reason.
With so many wants in life, it is easy to look past all we have. Remember to never take what you have for granted and never wish what you have away for better. Life is all about your perspective and what you make of it.
Besides, my mom thinks I’m perfect, and that’s all that matters.
