We've all heard the cliché Christmas song, and while there may be "much mistltoeing" and "hearts will be glowing," there are many more reasons why this truly is the most wonderful time. From now until the end of January, here are some fantastic gifts we can all receive, even if they don't appear under the tree.
No Classes, No Exams, No Worries
For my fellow college students: we have a month of sweet, sweet relaxation. Finals are over, papers have been turned in, and grades have been tallied. Even if we didn't *quite* live up to expectations, fall semester is over and a spring hangs in the distance. Use this time to inspire and motivate yourself for the courses to come. Channel the spirit of spring and find yourself renewed and refreshed!
New Year, New You?
Every year we're asked to think of a list of New Year's Resolutions, even though we know we'll ditch the gym and the kale by February 1st. This year, don't go overboard with a list of twenty seven life-altering goals. Pick one or two mini-goals that are actually achievable and work from there. If your current exercise routine is manually mixing the double chocolate cake for your NYE party, going to the gym for two hours every day is not only unattainable, but totally crazy- even for the gym rats.
Bowl Season Is The Best Season
College football fans rejoice- it's Bowl Season! Stock up on chips and salsa and make sure you don't miss a single game with this year's full bowl schedule right at your fingertips. New Year's Eve is of course star-studded with the Cotton and Orange Bowls, which will leave us all on the edge of our seats until the National Championship on January 11. I know I'll be watching the Outback Bowl, when all of God's children will be screaming, "Go Vols!"
Sales, Sales, and Semi-Annual Sales
While Black Friday has come and gone, the sales will continue to go on. Two of my personal favorites? The Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works semi-annual sales. Use this wonderful time to stock up on candles, lotions, soaps, and all your favorite PINK attire so you can head into the new year confident and cozy!
Let's All Go To The Movies
Thanksgiving to Christmas is a movie lover's dream come true. Star Wars has already shattered records left and right, with dozens of movies about to hit the big screen. Sisters, starring the dynamic Amy Poehler/Tina Fey duo, is sure to be a comedic hit. Those coming out Christmas Day include Will Smith in "Concussion" and Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in "Joy."
Though most of the country probably will not be seeing a white Christmas this year, we can all go out and enjoy other perks of this most wonderful time. See a movie, catch a sale, and cheer for your favorite team this holiday season!
