I have always been more of a DC person. Batman is the way to go. Every time. But I love movies, and even though I am not at all involved in the comic universe for Marvel, I have enjoyed their cinematic universe. Of course, there have been some downs, yes I am pointing towards “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Iron Man 3.”
When I saw the first trailer for “Captain America: Civil War”, it was okay. I never focused on it too much. The idea was not exactly new, because this movie has been in a buzz alongside “Batman V Superman” which runs along the same lines. Two loved superheroes fighting for what they believe is right.
I do have to agree that with every passing trailer, teaser, poster, my interest grew so much that I had started getting excited for it. However, there are some particular aspects of the movie that make it absolute certain for me to watch it.
In the following points, I will be addressing the characteristics of the movie that make me super excited for it.
The CGI is pretty sick
CGI is so common now a day, that it is difficult to differentiate if it is good or not. And there are actually very few movies that are able to take it to another level. This movie does that. When I saw the trailers I was instantly hooked, because even though we have seen such amazing CGI effects (Avatar and even Jurassic Park/World), Civil War brings whole new effects to the table. In specific, I am a big fan of the scene where Tony Stark puts on his suit hand just by extending it from his wrist. It was really amazing.
The suits
Following up on Tony Stark extending his robo-arm, this movie’s costumes have been taken to another level. Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, all the side-kicks, have not disappointed. I am surprised by how functional and realistic these suits have become. I am definitely impressed with Falcon’s suit this time. The wings are much better, better designed, and smooth from the last time he was on screen. But, for me the character suit that stole the show was Black Panther. Wow. It is incredible. It is some legit shit. The mask itself is so expressive. It is so clear that he only means business, and is here to make a mark. I am already so excited for his very own film. And since I do have a favorite (Black Panther), I do also have doubts about our friendly neighborhood superhero. It’s not bad, but I just don’t know how to react to it. The first appearance of spider-man in the trailer made him look entirely out of CGI. Like, the actor was not there at all. Not even on the car going, “Hey guys!” in his Justin Bieber voice. I don’t know, I still have to watch the movie, let’s hope he doesn’t bring the momentum down.
Trailer was on point
Now, this is something very important. This was a huge problem with Batman V Superman. They gave almost everything away in the trailer. Civil War was really careful about this, and that is brilliant. I am aware of the premise, but I don’t know what happens. And that is how it should be. You should not show the ultimate funky looking rabbit you have in your hat. Yes, Zack Snyder, you should have let Doomsday be a surprise. But returning to Civil War, the team behind it has handled the trailers perfectly and have given only things that tease well. BvS was more like Kim Kardashian on Instagram, and Civil War is Kelly Brooke anywhere. You gotta keep that tease in check.
So, these are some reasons why I will absolutely watch Captain America: Civil War. There are some others as well, such as Black Panther and his entire story. I am really excited to see what this character brings to the already established MCU. It’s difficult to step out when you have Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans in a movie, but the actor and writers have managed to explode him.
And of course Scarlett Johansson. I mean how could I even skip.
