On November 13, terrorists attacked several sites around Paris leaving over 128 people dead.
The world was left in shock and has been mourning for the all the lives lost in vain.
While many are praying for Paris, I believe we shouldn't just pray for Paris alone. The day before the Paris attacks, 40 people lost their lives in another deadly bombing in Beirut, 26 are dead in Baghdad after a suicide bombing, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico and a 7.0 magnitude earthquake also hit Japan.
So many lives were lost in just a matter of 24 hours, and some of these events were not even covered in the media and future mass media coverage of these events seems to produce futile results.
Last week the media went into a frenzy when reporting on racial injustices occurring all over college campuses around the country. One University in the spotlight, Mizzou, staged protests after their President stepped down with complaints of his lack of effort to reduce racial discrimination on campus.
Mizzou even issued a campus-wide alert, after death threats were reported via social media, although many did not these threats seriously.
After the tragedy in Paris, protesters are complaining that these deaths are taking away from their movement.
To those people I say that it is unfair for them to demand attention away from this act of terrorism. News outlets will continue to cover this story until more information is learned and those who died are brought justice.
We have not forgotten the racial injustices that have/are occurring nationwide, but we are allowed to mourn for the innocent lives that are no longer with us.
We shouldn't just pray for Paris; we must also pray for Beirut, Baghdad, Mexico, and Japan. And, we must pray for the millions of Muslims around the world who will be blamed for the actions of a few.
Let us pray for the thousands of refugees running away from the same threats we face, but will be denied entry to another country for the simple fact that they are not Christian. We must pray for those who face racism in a place where love and acceptance are supposed to thrive.
Let us pray for the world we live in, where humanity seems to have been lost in translation.
Let us not just pray for Paris, but let us pray for all those who lack compassion and love.
