Why is having a guy best friend better than having a girl best friend or a boyfriend? First and foremost, there will never be a fight over a guy unless he plays for the same team as you. It seems to me that guys are one of the reasons girls end a lot of the friendships in high school. A regular boyfriend could call it quits whenever he feels like it, but a best friend does simply not have that "luxury."
A guy best friend will never judge you, no matter what clothes you have on, or if you haven't brushed your hair in three days. Nor does he care what you eat or how you eat it. If you want to have a whole pizza, he is right next to you on his second or third slice by the time you have started your first.
Something that is so cool about boy-girl "BFF-ships" is that nothing is ever forced. Everything comes easier and the memories, laughs and inside jokes are endless. Now, with a boyfriend, you hold back. There is no way you are going to send him 30 texts to make sure he is there on time for your movie night together. With a best friend, those 30 texts are simply only the half of what he has gotten since he is five minutes late and mocking that you are "psycho stalker." Laughing with you, not at you, he gets over it like it was nothing and the night continues as planned.
Meeting your crazy family isn't even a big deal, even when your mom added him on Facebook and likes all his posts. One of my favorite reasons and the most important, a guy best friend listens to you talk for hours on end with minimal complaints. He knows and keeps all of your secrets. He also will never ever bring as much drama into your life as a girl best friend will. There will never be nights filled with catty remarks and boyfriend drama. I could come up with hundreds or thousands more reasons why guys make such great best friends, but I will let you figure it out for yourself.
