Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. -Aaron Siskind

I fell in love with photography a long time ago. I was 13 when I first started taking photos. I captured everything. I was known as the friend who always has a camera with her. As I grew older, I began to take photography more seriously. I knew it was something I wanted to start a career with.

But why? Why did I choose photography?

I chose photography because I want show people the best things about themselves. I want to show the world in a different way that makes people think deeper. You see, photography is so much more then focussing and pressing a button. People who take photos are capturing the world in their own way. If 10 people take a photo of the same subject, I guarantee that the photo will look different from each person.

We all have different perspectives. When someone takes a photo they are sharing their perspective, and I think that is pretty cool.

Photography also tells a story. Everyone has a story. Now that people can capture images on their phones, everyone is capable of telling their own personal story through everyday photos. It is amazing that we are able to do this at the tips of our fingers.

Through my photos I want capture the best aspects of my subject and tell their story. I want people to feel what the subject is feeling. Every time I pick up a camera I love photography more and more.

This summer I was given the opportunity to serve with WinShape camps as their Media Specialist. I will be doing all the photography and videoing for my travel group. I will be doing two things I love most, photography and travel. I can not wait to see the new ways I am going to fall in love with photography this summer. It was so amazing that God gave me this opportunity and I can not wait to see how He is going to use me this summer.

We all have those days where we let the negative thoughts that we're "not good enough," "not pretty enough" or "not smart enough" invade our minds. It's easy to lose hope in these situations and to feel like it would be easier to just give up. However, the Bible reminds us that these things that we tell ourselves are not true and it gives us the affirmations that we need. Let these verses give you the power and motivation that you're lacking.

1. Proverbs 31:25

"She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future."

2. Psalm 46:5

"God is within her, she will not fall."

3. Luke 1:45

"Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her."

4. Proverbs 31:17

"She is energetic and strong, a hard worker."

5. Psalm 28:7

6. Proverbs 11:16

8. Proverbs 31:30

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised."

9. 1 Corinthians 15:10

"By the grace of God, I am what I am."

10. Proverbs 31:26

"When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness."

11. Psalm 139:14

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

12. 1 Peter 3:3-4

"Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God."

13. Colossians 2:10

"And in Christ you have been brought to fullness."

14. 2 Timothy 1:7

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."

15. Jeremiah 29:11

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'"

16. Exodus 14:14

17. Song of Songs 4:7

7 Affordable, Easy Ways To Vamp Up Your Dorm/Bedroom

A guide to the best room ever.

I've always been a fan of interior design and room decorating, and I'm constantly looking for new ways to improve my room game, make DIYs for my room, or buy cheap room decor. I've compiled 7 tactics I use in my own room to make it look more aesthetic without spending too much on it.

1. Make a wall photo mural.

This is as simple as printing out a ton of pictures of family, friends, or anything else to your liking, and using wall tape to tape it to your room. Some different ways to position the pictures could be in a heart, spelling out your initials, or simply sticking them in rows and columns. A nice touch would be adding fairy lights to it or using string and clothespins to hang them up.

2. Use tapestry.

Tapestry is about as simple as it gets when it comes to room decor. It's inexpensive and it serves as a great backdrop which can be used for a variety of purposes. I personally recommend ones with darker colors, straying away from the lighter, brighter ones.

3. Add throw pillows to your bed.

Throw pillows can get a bit pricey, so it's important to know where to buy them. I always get mine from Ross, TjMaxx, or places like Walmart/Target. Even a few of these can make your bed look 10x better.

4. Use a statement art piece.

Using one bold piece of art or something that serves as a center or focus for the room can help in decorating and making your room look like you put in more effort than actual. Lately, I've been really interested in the multiple pieces of art, where each one completes the other, and neon signs which can sometimes be customized.

5. Keep a color scheme.

When decorating, it's extremely important to stick to a theme or a color scheme and apply it throughout. Although it may be tempting to buy an item that doesn't match, it is more beneficial to stick to the scheme. I've found it appealing to use 2-3 colors because 1 seems as if there's too much going on, and anything above 3 is basically not a color scheme anymore.

6. Keep designated areas for different tasks.

Don't do your homework on your bed! It's extremely important to have a separate work table that allows you to be more organized and keep your nap life away from your student life. It's extremely easy to keep a work room organized, as long as you have designated locations for everything, and put things back when you're done with them!

7. Invest in a comfortable rug.

Throw rugs can make any boring old wooden or tile floor look much more appealing. I personally have invested in many plush throw rugs over the years and I have never been disappointed. However, I recommend getting gray or colored rugs as I find the white ones get dirty easily.
