The basic idea and foundation of happiness lie within ourselves. Although happiness can be found everywhere, that makes us vulnerable on what we do and how we do it. We want more and that makes us miserable. The tendency of human beings to put their happiness in somebody else basically manifests the very idea that we will be happy. We try too hard to impress another human being and sadly most of the time we are left disappointed.

Ego grows inside people when they see someone treating them nicely and they fail to appreciate themselves; let alone others. That’s where ignorance is born. This cycle of chasing love and happiness never ends, and to witness your identity disappear is an "experience," and a rather unpleasant one. Expecting something when all the doors are closed is deceiving yourself and your integrity.
Next time, if you want to be happy or make someone happy, hold the door for an elderly person, become a better bathroom singer, or do anything which does not subdue your confidence. Not everyone has to like you and the great thing is you don't have to care. Have some self-respect to walk away from the people who take you for granted.
