Why Going To College Is Good For You

Going to college straight out of high school was the best decision I’ve ever made. It’s changed my life going to college. I’ve changed for the better, I’ve become more responsible, and more mature. I have met many new people throughout my freshman year of college, most of which I am hoping to be lifelong friends with.

The environment of living on the campus of such a small school was inviting, and friendly. It was loud, but it was fun, mostly everyone I met while on campus was friendly and outgoing. Going to parties was a must. I met even more people while attending parties. In fact, most people I met later on in the year I met at parties. Attending social events helps you meet and become friends with new people. Meeting new people helps you broaden your friendships. You will be friends with different types of people and it will broaden your horizons.

Attending college has helped me find out who my real friends are, and who I should keep away from. I have learned that some people are fake and they talk about you behind your back, while some are just rude and obnoxious around you. I have learned who to trust and who not to trust.

My first year of college was an emotional rollercoaster, but it was good for me. I fell in love, I got my heart broken. I made new friends. I went to parties. I had fun. I lost some friends, but I got through it. Going through these things in just one year is good because it just goes to show you how much can change in one year, how much a person can change. I learned new things and experienced new things, and now I’m the better for it.

College is an amazing experience that everyone should have. It opens your eyes and teaches you that life isn’t perfect. I now feel like a real adult. I also know that I can be on my own and be responsible. I feel that I can be responsible for taking care of myself and keeping track of everything that I need. Being in college has shown me how to be responsible for myself and my own actions. I have been trying to pay for everything that is not needed with my own money so my parents don’t have to pay for it.

Living on campus while being away from home was a big step for me. It helped me grow as a person, it also showed me how to see who’s a true friend or not. I now know who to trust, and who I shouldn’t trust. I learned some very important lessons. Some were life lessons, some were just things I needed to know for daily life. During my first semester, I spent all of my money which taught me that I need to make a budget for myself during my sophomore year of college.

Attending college right after I was out of high school was the best thing I’ve ever done.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
