I'm sure everybody is guilty of having different playlists for their different moods. Personally, I have to have my love songs playlist when I'm sad or my "booty twerk" playlist when I'm studying. Almost every genre will show up somewhere on these different playlists, and with the ease of Spotify and their moods playlists it is easier than ever to find the perfect mix for every time of day.
As I am from California, I didn't grow up listening to country music very often, but when we did; it was very strategically played for two very different moods.
Statistics show, and by statistics I mean the conversation I had with my best friends, that the best times to listen are when your drunk, or when you have a crush.
Now, I know there are a handful of people in this world, especially going to school in Texas, that love country music all the time- but the feeling you get listening to country is definitely better during the two special times in life.
When you're drunk
Country is best listened to while intoxicated. Its not just that the vast majority of country has lyrics that include drinking while sad or holding an ice cold beer. It's the fact that the songs are so fun to belt out with your friends. Some of my favorite memories are at pre-game parties or at day-parties when the playlist changes from some booty mix to some Luke Bryan or Zac Brown Band- and everyone starts to sing along. The buzz in your head and the numbness of your body can't compare to how fun it is when you're singing with your closest friends (and probably 100 other strangers that somehow ended up at the same party as you).
When you have a crush
Everybody gets crushes. It might be when your Geology Lab TA is "soooooooo cute" or when you bump into an old high school friend you had forgotten about for years. But it can also be the boy you met last week when you went our dancing and now he *won't* stop texting you and you totally know he thinks you're cute. But this is one of the best times to listen to country music- especially Carrie Underwood or Lee Brice. The lyrics that make your heart swell and give you butterflies because you can't stop thinking about that special person. The sweet songs make you smile no matter what and will comfort you when you have a broken heart. Country really hits you right in the feels.
