Why "Game of Thrones" Is Ruining My Life

This summer, I planned on being productive. And in between rehearsals, my summer job, and getting some personal work done, a few buddies and I decided to watch a TV show together: the ever-popular "Game of Thrones." It'll be fun, they said. I swear it's not going to take you that long to finish, they said. It's just a TV show, they said.

No. It is a life style.

I can't sleep, eat, or even breathe without my mind flooding with the battles, romance, and the "Game of Thrones" universe. When I used to spend my time reading things of legitimate value, I now spend time googling the characters' names, learning their back stories and making sure I'm truly following the show. My life is being turned upside down.

1. Admittedly, this show is really confusing. There's a lot of characters, with really long names, and it's already an effort just to remember who is who.

2. And, after season 3, we're all wondering what happened to this guy.

3. And there are just so many characters that you fall in love with...

4. And ones that you love to hate.

5. And now, you never know who's dead and who's going to come back to life.

"Valar moghulis," right? WRONG.

6. I was waaaaaaaaaaaay too excited when Joffery finally died.

7. And I was waaaaaaaaaaaay too upset when Ygritte also, regrettably, died.

Rest in peace, Ygritte. You will always live on in my heart. And you were too good for Jon Snow, anyways.

8. And, also, Catelyn Stark. That was another really sad death.

9. Or, how about how the entire Red Wedding just completely crushed me.

And, yet, after that, when all my favorite characters died, I still. kept. watching.

10. My high key fave, Daenerys Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, called Daenerys Stormborn, the Unburnt, and Mother of Dragons.

11. And my low key, her advisor and translator, Missandei.

12. And of course, the dragons...

13. ...dragons...

14. ...all of the dragons.

15. Um, this moment.

16. And the fact that I can't go throughout my day without watching "Game of Thrones" has got me feeling crazy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
