Don't forget everything your mom has done for you!

Why Every Day Should Be Mother's Day
Gianna Nicole Perera

This Sunday, being Mother's Day, is entirely devoted to all the beautiful moms out there. They do the work of a chauffeur, a nurse, a chef, and a teacher all wrapped in one, plus more, and with no days off. Sometimes we can overlook all that our moms have done for us and the women that gave us life deserve much more than that. Mother's Day comes around once a year, but really, everyday should be Mother's Day.

I love my mom. She was my first best friend and has kept that title ever since. Nothing stops the belly laughs we share when we are together. No one makes me laugh the way she does- probably because we share the same silly sense of humor- but I wouldn’t give it up for the world. She has the absolute best taste in music and I thank her for opening me up to the music world at such a young age. She is my biggest supporter and that means more to me than she'll ever know. She'd had my back through all the ups and downs in life and I would have been lost without her.

I hope that this year everyone tries to acknowledge their mom's hard work all throughout the year. Never forget all that she has done for you and continues to do, even as you enter the adult world (can't I stay a kid forever?)

Here are 30 things you should never forget to thank your mom for:

1. She brought you into this world (and she "can take you out of it" as every mom says).

2. She changed all your dirty diapers.

3. She bathed and fed you as an infant, toddler, and small child.

4. She sacrificed many hours of sleep in order to put you to bed.

5. She's found many toys and sports equipment that have been misplaced.

6. She has believed in you and all your dreams (even those of being King or Queen of the world).

7. She has nursed you back to health after a cold or flu... wiping your nose for you, giving you medicine, and making homemade soup.

8. She has tied your shoe laces and taught you how to do it yourself.

9. She has washed your clothes and your dishes.

10. She always reminded you that "you're only human" and that it'll "be okay".

11. She has allowed you to make mistakes.

12. And she has dried up your tears afterward.

13. She drove you to school every day until you got your license.

14. She volunteered as "team mom", "club mom", "class mom", "PTA mom", etc.

15. She cheered you on at all your games, recitals, and plays.

16. She helped you with your homework and studying for tests.

17. She's given tons of excellent advice.

18. She's protected you from all the dangers in the world.

19. She has provided rules to keep you in line.

20. She has dealt with lots of back talk and attitude, when most of the time she is right.

21. She has taught you to be honest.

22. She has never given up on you.

23. She has been so understanding, sometimes without you even having to say a word.

24. She has given you space to grow as a person.

25. She always has your best interest at heart.

26. She has scolded you if you've been wrong and encouraged you if you've been right.

27. She has forgiven you and has taught you how to forgive.

28. She has cooked your favorite meals for you.

30. She has been an excellent mother and has taught you how to be the kind of parent you hope to be some day.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
