Anyone who knows me, knows that "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" is my favorite talk show. Ellen DeGeneres is a comedian, talk show host, actress, writer, and producer. She has a bright light about her that draws people to her. If you ever come across "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," watch it; it will be the best decision you ever made. Not only is she funny and energetic, but she has a positive and encouraging attitude which her viewers can feel when they are around her or watch her show.

After coming out to the public about her sexual orientation, she stood proud about who she was even though others did not stand by her at that life-changing moment in her career. Ellen was recognized for her comedy in her early days, and she is known to be one of the most hardworking celebrities. She worked hard to be where she is today, and all that hard work has paid off. She started working in television and movies, and one of her iconic movie characters most people and kids know her from is Dory from "Finding Nemo."

When I began watching Ellen's show, I was so inspired by the things Ellen did on her show. From what I could tell, there was so much positivity, laughter, and communication with her audience that just made me keep coming back to watch it. Ellen's positivity, charm, and kindness inspire people every day, myself included. She believes in equality and treating the people around you how you want to be treated. One of the things Ellen said that has stuck with me is that at the end of her show, she always says "Bye everybody, be kind to one another." Just hearing her say that has inspired me to be kind to those around me because you never know what a person could be going through and being kind to them could make their day a million times better.

From dancing to amazing celebrity pranks, the show never fails to make me laugh. Just watching the show lifts my spirits up if I was having a bad day. What makes "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" so great is the interaction Ellen has with her audience, her witty sense of humor, and her down to earth personality. Just watching the show from home can make a person feel like they know Ellen.

Ellen DeGeneres is a person who I'd like to call brave and very giving. Those who watch the show know Ellen is always giving back, whether it is giving her audience gifts, or honoring families in need or teachers or people who have made an impact in their communities. She sets a great example that encourages people to give back to those in need. Throughout her life of challenges and overcoming the obstacles in her life, she continues to make jokes, remain positive, and encourage those around her.

In the years I have watched the show, I have learned so many things. Those things include being yourself no matter what other people say or think, being kind, honest, respecting others and standing up for what you believe in. Ellen continues to be one of my main role models because she possesses these qualities and that is what makes her different from most people.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
